This was a great series that I have really enjoyed reading and I wish it wasn't over. I am looking forward to the next series Shadow Falls: After Dark & seeing were it picks up as well as learning more about Della and her adventures.

Shadow Falls: After Dark Book #1 is Reborn. ( )

This is the final book in the Shadow Falls series and I really loved this book and how it ended. Overall I was very pleased with the whole series and I would recommend this for people who like young adult books with a paranormal theme and it had a little bit of everything from action, drama, romance, coming of age story. This was my least favorite in the series, and I am sad to say I am glad it is over. I really enjoyed it for the most part, but I think there was too many books. The storyline dragged on at times. I am happy to have finished it though. It was fun if you are wanting to start a light (but long) series. ( )

This is the fifth and final book in the Shadow Falls series. This book does a great job tying everything up in a way that I thought was well done. There are spoilers ahead for those who haven’t read up to book 4 in this series.

Kylie decided in the last book to live with her chameleon grandfather in their secret compound in an effort to learn more about her powers. However, what she finds there is disturbing and she is constantly missing Shadow Falls. In Kylie’s opinion the chameleons can’t remain hidden forever and Mario needs to be dealt with once and for all. In addition to all these issues Kylie is being haunting by a disturbingly violent female ghost with a large sword and Kylie is still very concerned about her mom’s new boyfriend.

This book pretty much answers all the questions that arose in the series and ties things up neatly and nicely. There are some questions that are still unanswered at the end but those are mainly dealing with some of the side characters (Della mainly).

The book is well written and flows well, it makes for a very engaging and easy read. I enjoyed this whole series a lot and am happy with where it ended. I do know that there are three books in a spin-off series featuring Miranda and Della.

Overall this was a well done series and I enjoyed it. It is a very typical and well written YA paranormal series and, while it didn’t blow me away with it’s awesomeness, it did fit my need for a good YA paranormal series and was engaging. I probably won’t read the spin-off series because I just have too much to read right now and I am not dying to read more about these characters or this world right now...I am happy with how things ended. I would recommend to those looking for a good paranormal YA read. ( )

Still a great series that grabs you and won't let go. This time Kylie battles Mario and his son. She must win or she and many others will die. ( )

While it's referred to as a camp, it's really a boarding school. In this you see the characters grow up and discover things about themselves, and while there's a confrontation with the bad guy at the end and the buildup is all there for this confrontation, the story is more about the relationships and the growth and the confrontation is quite rushed feeling.

It's interesting to see Kylie realise that if she wants change she herself needs to step up to the plate. And that if her friends also want change that they too need to do the same. You can see how she could become a confessor and she also can see how some traditions in this world are for survival, not for malicious reasons, but that unthinking traditions are not good for a society.

It didn't feel like a complete end, there were openings for sequels, but the current story arc is over. Interesting and quite readable but it left me wanting more. ( )

I started this series when it came out, and I have followed it since, it is sad to know that my time with these characters has come to a close, but I am happy for them to get their ending.
C.C. Hunter doesn't disappoint. This gets right into the action and into the thick of things. Kylie has a lot of hard choices to make and it doesn't really ever give her a chance to rest and figure things out. After all, evil villians don't like to do that, they only make speeches to give you a chance to figure out how to beat them after all, lol.
Derek and Lucas are at the forefront, and as usual, I am so torn, but after the heartache in the last one, I don't know if that was actually closing his part or if its just leading to a more epic ending. They both have great things going for them and so sad to have to have one of their hearts shattered along with a piece of mine. But as the book went on, I knew the right choice for her, and totally agreed with it. It was the best possible ending to a love triangle like this, and I didn't know how Ms Hunter would do it, but she gave me the romantic HEA for them that I wanted.
As usual, the secondary characters are amazing. I love the bantering between Miranda and Della, and I am super excited to hear that Della will be the star in her very on spin off story. Holiday and Burnett are amazing too, and I love where she took them.
The rolling on the floor laughing humor is still in place, and there were several places that had me in stitches and my husband giving me that look and asking if the book needed to be taken away. Then I gave him my look and all was good.
The series ended beautifully, I feel like I got the resolution I wanted, I saw tremendous growth in Kylie. The romance was hot and tension filled.

Bottom Line: Great ending to awesome series. ( )

I bought this book before it was even available to be sold and was thrilled to be able to have it in my hands to read. This is the last book in the series for this character and I adored this series from beginning to end. We can finally see Kylie with the powers she has been gifted with and the choice of whom is the one that she will be tied to in the end. The struggle for her affection between Lucas and Derek is powerful. This is one story I hated to see end but I’m happy to see how it all worked out for Kylie. If anything, seeing what new antics the other characters were up to kept you wanting to continue reading. Thank you Ms. Hunter for keeping me entertained for the past few years with a great series that I personally own each of your books. ( )

* Warning-Spoilers for previous books in the Shadow Falls Series*

Kylie Galen has gone through a lot since her parents sent her off to Shadow Falls. She found out her dad was not her biological father and that her real dad was dead. She found out that she was a paranormal creature like no one else at the camp. She has dodged bad guys, lost some and saved others. She has gained a family and friends. She has loved and she has been heartbroken. Kylie has had to make hard decisions that no one her age should ever have to make. CHOSEN AT NIGHTFALL brought all the characters together and tied up all the loose ends.

WHISPERS AT MOONRISE ended with Kylie finding out that Lucas promised himself to another and Kylie leaving Shadow Falls with her grandfather and aunt to learn more about herself as a chameleon. Kylie continues to have a bad feeling about her moms new boyfriend. Even warning her mom only to be brushed off. As a mom myself I could not imagine putting my boyfriend before my child's needs and feelings. She is a pretty selfish person that can not see what is in front of her and you just want to shake her sometimes. As for the love interests, Lucas does everything and everything to apologize to Kylie, and Derek makes another move on Kylie and declares his feelings again. Even though she does end up with one of them the other one continues to be a very good loyal friend. Holiday and Burnett continue to make me go AWWWW. I love how far their relationship has evolved. Della and Miranda continue to support Kylie. They are great friends and she couldn't ask for better.

The final showdown while short was good and full of tension. I can not think of anything that C.C. Hunter left out by the end of CHOSEN AT NIGHTFALL. I'm satisfied with the way things ended, and feel that everyone ended up where they should have been. ( )

Definitely a solid end to the series, but not as epic as I hoped. How sad is it that I found myself more interested in the secondary romances than in the main love triangle?

C.C. Hunter’s final book in her Shadow Falls series, Chosen at Nightfall, was one of my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2013, but turned out to be one of my most disappointing. Not that it wasn’t good; it was. But it wasn’t epic. In fact, a great deal of it felt like filler – Kylie spent too much time moaning and wrapping herself in her misery over the guys in her life rather than going out to kick butt and take names like she is more than capable of doing. There was a subplot involving the chameleon community her grandparents were part of that ended up going nowhere and her big confrontation with evil villain Mario was put on hold for much of the book until a fast and furious finale that finally brought some energy to the story – just in time for it to be over. There was a nifty ghost that provided some interest and intrigue, and was the only part of Kylie’s story that I ultimately ended up caring about (thankfully, that thread was tied up neatly at the end).

One of my biggest problems with this series has been the pathetic love triangle of Kylie, werewolf Lucas, and half-fae Derek. Lucas started out in book one as a decent-seeming guy who had some childhood history with Kylie, but by book four I was ready for her to dump him for good. Derek has been an incredible support to Kylie – sweet, caring, and encouraging – so, of course, Kylie keeps talking herself out of a relationship with him. The triangle was resolved in Chosen at Nightfall, but by the time it happened I didn’t care anymore and felt she ended up with the guy she deserved (and the “loser” was the real winner). Instead, I was much more entertained by a subplot involving camp leaders Holiday and Burnett as their relationship hit some exciting snags, and any scenes involving Miranda and/or her shape-shifting boyfriend Perry.

Too many missed opportunities and too much angst from Kylie kept me from bumping this rating beyond three and a half stars. So why did I even give it that many since all I’ve done is whine? Well, because it had an incredibly exciting finale, the mysterious ghost was interesting and had plenty of opportunity to shine, and the secondary characters saved the day. Most of the main story threads were tied off (other than the chameleon community thing), so I wasn’t left with too many questions. In addition, the fans of one side of the romantic triangle (sadly, I’m not one of them) will be over the moon with how that issue was resolved. Overall, Chosen at Nightfall is a good ending to the series, just not the great one I was anticipating. ( )
