Huge items that may not be fair trade are: chocolate, fruit, shoes, and clothes. Lots of major producing companies in America do not participate in Fair Trade. Starbucks, Hershey, and Nestle allow child slavery. These children are forced to work long hours and are barely fed. Asia, Africa, and Latin America are places where Fair Trade manufacturers take place.
Developing countries are popular to Manufacturers because it may be cheaper than Fair Trade.Fair Trade company's are getting more popular. To know if something is Fair Trade, there should be a sticker symbolizing the Fair Trading company. In Ghana the Kuapa Kokoo mission was to increase the rights of people in the marketing business. Fair Trade prices do seem to be a little bit expensive I believe that we should support Fair Trad more than non Fair Trade companies. SOFA companies are small companies that send BIO supplies like tea. Fair Trade is a good idea but as Americans we are so used to non Fair Trade items. I think as America we need to be more aware of what is going on in other countries. ( )
