This is a really enjoyable installment of the Dragonbreath series. I love the fairy curse that Christiana ends up under! And all the little nods to different fairy stories are great. ( ) Hmm. This is the only one where I really think the title doesn't work. The fairies are classic High Court - don't trust them, or trust them to hold to the letter of what they say and totally ignore the spirit of it. They haven't gone bad (unless you think fairies means sweet little people with butterfly wings). The most amusing part is Christiana managing a trip to Underhill without ever admitting this magic stuff actually exists... When Danny's mother disappears into a toadstool ring, one night, Danny does what any self-respecting child would do - he follows her into the realm of the fairies and attempts to rescue her. Of course, being an Ursula Vernon novel, the fairies are not entirely what you would expect (they're dragon-fairies - squee!) and there is plenty of humour, with a slightly scientific slant, combined with general awesome randomness. I love the wry humour, the non patronising tone of writing and the general Ursula-ness of the whole affair. Truly, she ranks highly on my "admirable people" list. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
