Jordan's husband died in Iraq and now she is struggling with her young daughter to fulfill his dream of opening a B&B. Nick served under her husband and comes to Pelican Pointe because of a promise he made to him to look out for his family. Nick was badly injured in the attack and has changed drastically from his previous playboy attitude. He stays to help Jordan work on the B&B and gradually falls in love with the young widow and her adorable child. This is a sweet story though it wasn't really a thriller nor a paranormal (there's a ghost that appears periodically). It's a bit slow as the author goes into a lot of detail about things that don't really help the story along: room decorations, what they eat for every meal, etc. There's also a lot of head hopping between all the characters, sometimes within the same paragraph. I don't usually mind this in a romance where much of the dialogue is between the two main characters, but this kept taking me out of the story so I could identify who was speaking and to whom. Nick and Jordan are engaging and Hutton, the baby, is adorable. Nick's transformation keeps the story going. There's a strange subplot where the townpeople are really mean to Jordan. It's never really explained; I could understand neglect, but they are actively hostile. This was just an okay romance for me. Gotta say I have had this book for some time but put off reading it because I thought the war/ptsd issues would be too heavy. I was so WRONG!!! This is a love story between two people dealing the loss of one person they both LOVED. Great story that I recommend to everyone. Can't wait to get the rest of this series. This is a great story that at times brought tears to my eyes. I thought the sex was needless but, other than that, I really enjoyed the book. Jordan is determined to open the B&B that her husband dreamed of before he went to Iraq. His death left Jordan reeling but determined. A handsome man suddenly appears and begins to assist her in readying her home for the opening. While in Iraq with her husband, the stranger made a promise to take care of Jordan and the baby. He is now in Pelican Point to fulfill that promise. He is going to tell her who he is and leave, but soon finds himself falling in love with Jordan and the baby, something he is fighting because due to the dark secret of what really happened in Iraq. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I'm not much for romance stories mainly because they all seem to follow the happily ever after scene. This story was not really like that even though it did have a very happy ending. How sad that Scott never made it home to Jordan and Hutton. Thankfully Nick followed the memories of his conversations with Scott and showed up in Pelican Pointe Cove. This entire story was so very captivating. Even though this was a free book I am really happy that I did decided to download it. The last chapter had me in tears. I don't know if it's because I could relate to Jordan not so much in the fact that I had a B and B to get ready but that I too had lost my husband and we lived in the house where my husband's mother grow up, where I now live alone. My husband had lived in this area his entire life and after he passed it was like the neighbors didn't know who I was. They don't offer to help me with anything just as Jordans neighbors turned their backs on her after Scott passed away and didn't offer to help her but anyway that's neither here nor there. This is not your typical romance story and I would recommend this story to anyone even those that don't read any kind of a love story. This one will definitely tug at your Heartstrings. I'm just very happy for Jordan, Nick, and Hutton that they are now a family. And to know that Scott's wishes did come true after all. ( )
