This book is a cheap, heretical knock-off of Loving Your Wife as Christ Loves the Church by Larry E. McCall. He has some excellent points but some terrible theology taught to him by demons (I Timothy 4:1). The book is crass and disrespectful to women.

I find the use of the phrase "blankety-blank" and also self-censoring with a _______ crass. Just use the f-bomb already if you are going to be crass like that. (I gotta self-censor so that my review doesn't get removed, or else I would use the words that he censors out!) Also "What in the devil do you mean by that" and "I'll be darned"--who really says that? He calls Bathsheba a "gorgeous doll" which is incredibly disrespectful of a rape victim.

The problem is that Dr. Williams believes that men are to provide "spiritual protection" for their wives and to be "in authority over" their wives. There is not a single Bible passage that backs up these statements. The heresy of the umbrella of protection taught by the pedophile Bill Gothard needs to die a swift death!

He also uses the phrase "die to self", which I have searched and searched for in the Bible and finally, finally found the closest thing to it in an obscure Bible translation: Colossians 2:18 "Don’t let anyone deny you the prize by insisting that you engage in self-mortification or angel-worship. Such people are always going on about some vision they have had, and they vainly puff themselves up by their worldly outlook." Self-mortification is literally putting to death your "self." The phrase that the Bible repeatedly uses is to "die to sin" and the Satanic phrase "die to self" needs to be sent straight back to Hell and scrubbed from books being sold by Christian publishers and sermons preached by Christian pastors. If you want Christians to no longer be selfish, then preach what the Bible actually says about selfishness and don't invent nonbiblical things.

Here is a completely non-Biblical paragraph from the book:
"Man, you can save your marriage, because you really are the savior of the home. You can save the family by dying to yourself. You can save your home by dying to self-interest, self-righteousness, and self-gratification."
There is only ONE Savior of people: the Lord Jesus Christ! Accept no substitutes! There is NO savior for institutions; Jesus didn't die for the institutions of marriage and family and no man is a good enough sacrifice to be a savior for such.

There is an entire chapter (8: Avenues to Heavenly Harmony at Home) on how men are the priests of their homes and families. No, no, no, no! The priesthood of ALL BELIEVERS means that believing women and believing children are their own priests! There is only one mediator between God and humanity, and that is the man Christ Jesus (I Timothy 2:5). [The Greek word ἄνθρωπος that I translate as humanity is very clear about applying to both male and female.] Having dangly bits swinging between your legs does not entitle you to come between me and my King of Kings, Priest of Priests, Lord of Lords! Go F off to Hell instead of butting in where you aren't needed.

He does have a good point that wives are a gift from God to provide correction and wisdom and help; that is the point of Proverbs 27:17. He does correctly state that rebellion against this correction and wisdom is a sinful rebellion against God.

Dr. Williams does correctly diagnose the primary problem with husbands in bad marriages: they are selfish and proud. His cure of becoming self-sacrificial and humble through the power of the Holy Spirit is true. But if you are teaching false gospels of men being the saviors of their families, you need to be canceled more effectively than any cancel culture cancellation.

I am not in favor of book burnings in general, but this book deserves a thorough book burning.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, GO BUY LOVING YOUR WIFE AS CHRIST LOVES THE CHURCH INSTEAD!!!! The author is Larry E. McCall and the ISBN is 088469304X. I haven't found any heresy in Dr. McCall's book, though I don't endorse any of the pastors/theologians who endorse his book or who are quoted in this book because some of them are pro-pedophilia. ( )
