Jane lives in a shack in California with her rather erratic father. She accepts an invitation to Scotland to be reunited with her grandmother and other family members. Excellent characters, as is usual with this author, but the plot is a bit over-dramatic and ends rather suddenly (albeit satisfactorily). Re-reading seven years later, I liked it rather more. Yes, the climax is sudden - and was the only part of the plot I actually remembered, other than the first couple of chapters. But I found the story ended satisfactorily, and enjoyed re-visiting the people in it. Enjoyed afresh re-reading yet again nine years later. In #1 New York Times bestselling author Rosamunde Pilcher's The End of Summer, a woman revisits her home and her heartbreak when she is reunited with the one she loved and lost-and could love again. After years in the United States, Jane returns to the tranquil Scottish estate, Elvie, where she spent a magical childhood. Memories of Elvie had always summoned the image of Sinclair, the rakish man Jane had once dreamed of marrying, but now that she is home, she finds Sinclair a different man. His charm has a purpose, and Jane can no longer trust him...or herself. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
