An OK collection of short stories. I didn't realise I had read one of them, "Old Boys", before until I was half-way through it; in it, a man visits his old school with his wife and son (who they are planning to send there) and is rather overwhelmed by his memories, particularly when he comes across someone who protected him against bullies.

The first story in the collection, "Wig", was quite creepy, and the way it had a woman's moment of vanity having serious consequences made me find it pretty misogynistic, and I was nearly ready to abandon the book there. But I didn't, and I quite enjoyed some of the other stories ("Paint", "Other Men's Sweetness", "The List" (which is another story I may have read before), and the aforementioned "Old Boys"). ( )
