Sarina is scarred. Her L'inar, the curving nerve lines that enable Inarrii to experience their full sexuality, were severed in battle and she can no longer reach completion. Until she accepts a job as bodyguard to the human ambassador John Bennings, and is astonished to discover that they share a mental bond--a mirrored pathway of thoughts that will allow Sarina to climax. When John's the target of an attack and they are forced into hiding, he's not sorry to be in close quarters with the compelling Sarina. They explore their erotic connection, and John is happy to demonstrate that humans have more sexual skills than Sarina thought. To prove that she is whole and rejoin her Inarrii clan, Sarina needs John to bring her to climax in public in accordance with tradition. With a roomful of Inarrii and humans watching, will John be willing to perform as Sarina needs--and will their public display make John vulnerable to another attack? 43,000 words… (altro)

I love this series. It's so good! ( )

Though this was an interesting read, I didn't love it as much as the previous book. I think, in part, because the hero of this book is keeping a secret from the heroine. Although I understood his reasons for doing so, I felt it went on a bit long.

Aside from that, this is a solid read. The characters were interesting and so was the plot. I really like the world Cain has created. I'm looking forward to reading the first book in the series (which I somehow missed) and hope to see more from her in the future. ( )

Review:

"Undercover Alliance" by Lilly Cain was a good fantasy science fiction erotic romantic read that I found very interesting read. This is the third novel in the Confederacy Treaty series which was a sexy sci-fi read. I found this novel a very good one starting with the main character who was Sarina. Sarina was a alien called Inarrii..that had sexual species that were called L'inar that run along their entire bodies. These were nerve endings that make ones sexual encounters very lovely and also this helps the Inarrii to reach their sexual completion. When the story begins, Sarina is damaged; her external nerve system that defines her race has been severed, and she's unable to reach a sexual climax, which her people determine is necessary to their mental health. Now, if you are wondering just what all that is about I will stop here and say you must pick up the good read "Undercover Alliance" to find out just what this has to do with Sarina. Will she get this back?

I did enjoy this fantasy read and found it hard to put down until the end which wasn't bad because the whole novel was about 100 pages.

If you are looking for a good fantasy science fiction erotic romantic read...then I would recommend "Undercover Alliance" as a good read for your enjoyment. ( )

Undercover Alliance is the third book in Lilly Cain’s sci fi/erotic romance series, Confederacy Treaty. This book focuses on the Inarrii warrior Sarina, a character who was briefly introduced in the second book The Naked Truth, and her relationship with John Bennings, a human covert operative. Great chemistry between the main characters and an engaging plot definitely made this my favorite of the series.

Sarina was a great female lead. As a strong Inarri warrior, she can hold her own in military strategy and physical combat. Her vulnerability lies in her severed L’inar, the nerve endings which respond to strong feelings like sexual arousal, fear and pain. The damaged L’inar prevent her from reaching climax and because sex is such a strong part of Inarri culture, in fact, it is vital to their mental health, she is seen as deficient in the eyes of her people. I loved the strength and complete confidence she has in herself as a warrior. She is fearless and blunt. Fully capable of taking care of herself and her charge. A true warrior woman. Yet this strength and confidence is coupled with a vulnerability that was very believable. She sees herself as broken and I thought it was a compelling juxtaposition to have this kickass warrior woman fighting feelings of insecurity and pain for something she believes she may not be able to change.

And John Bennings was a great partner for her. Though undercover as a lawyer, he is every bit the soldier as Sarina is – strong, smart, and brave. He also has his own insecurities about building real relationships with people. Her beauty, brains, and strength are what catches his attention but once they get close it becomes more than sex. What I love is that they both hold on to a hope that what they have together can finally be something different from what they’ve had in the past. The chemistry is great and it gets a bit steamy and tense. By the end, you want these two in it for the long haul and hope they make it.

The plot was also engaging and definitely more action packed than the last book in the series. John is targeted for attack and it is up to Sarina to help protect him. They battle terrorists and uncover a plot that threatens the treaty process. The fate of the newly formed relationship between Earth and the Inarrii is held in the balance and I’m looking forward to seeing how Cain resolves this conflict in the next and final installment of the series.

Undercover Alliance is another great addition to a fun and steamy series! ( )
