Check out my review and a teaser here: http://frommetoyouvideophoto.blogspot.com/2012/11/made-grade-erotic-elf-series-b... ( ) This was a freeby from Amazon.com The main character is a female elf-like creature who is being blackmailed, inducing her to undertake the lucrative but dangerous activity of attempting to capture one or more male incubus creatures for which there is apparently a most wanted list. Uptill recently I did not know such a thing as an incubus even existed in the realm of literature. The concept of an elf (with fangs and poison needles) hunting them down, was a step too far for me I guess. I somehow (?) couldn't relate to either of the main characters, whom we meet in a bar in the first scene of the novel. The incubus is dancing and apparently feeding off the sexual energy of his dance partners, but is willing to be lured away when he realizes the elf's larger reservoir. Meanwhile she has been drinking alcoholic beverages, which I assume must be a logical thing to do for an elf on the war path. The elf finds the incubus attractive, wants to use her fangs on him, wants to kiss him, is conflicted, sidetracked, tries again, is refuted, etc etc. And that's pretty much where I lost interest, really. I managed to get to about 50% of the novel and than gave up. I guess I missed some depth of emotion to make these weird characters' actions understandable enough to create the need to know what would happen next. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. I enjoyed the book and the interactions between the hero and the heroine. In fact, I enjoyed it all the way up until the ending...when the author sprung something at me I was not expecting. And I hated. I am not a fan of love triangles. I've never been a fan of love triangles. Or cliff-hanger endings. Or multi-part series that star the same H/h. I want my HEA (but sometimes willing to settle for an HFN) ending, dammit! So. The story is cute. The world-building felt good. The plot set up worked as well. I enjoyed the main characters...but the ending killed it for me. Sometimes I want to say to authors: "You know, it's ok to write a book that doesn't have a sequel. Pour your heart out into this ONE book and if it's good, we [the readers] will follow you for many, many more books. Almost until you're sick of us. Just ask [a:Jennifer Crusie|19005|Jennifer Crusie|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1295982567p2/19005.jpg]. Getting back to this book. 3.5 stars that would have been 4 stars if not for the ending. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
