For well to do ladies Emma surely isn't one of them and perhaps Libby isnt either. Nora perhaps but on the fringe. I did enjoy a lot of this book but most seemed almost pushing of the story line and unneeded and just added fluff to an otherwise decent mystery. I wish the author much success but wanted more from this book after waiting so long for the continuation of the series. ( ) Meh! The premise was good, the story not-so-good. The sisters inherit their Aunt's estate but when they get there the find all the treasured valuables are gone. They encounter their smarmy cousin (who has been disinherited), the very nasty estate lawyer, a naive police officer, & skeletal remains in the elevator. Upon investigation the skeleton turns out to be that of their Aunt, a "Little Black Book" is found, another set of skeletal remains are found, Nora (the main protagonist) is once again kidnapped, and there's a whole lot of moving, shakin' mad-cap adventure going on. I basically skimmed the first portion of the book..... "The same old same old" background explanations. So when that was finally over, I was ready for a good story. Alas that was not to be. What could have been a good story was scattered and undeveloped until nearly the end, which in and of itself was too simple and dissatisfying. As I said: "Meh!" I love this series and I was thrilled to see No Way to Kill a Lady published - I had thought Ms. Martin had killed the series with the last book. The crazy sisters are back and as nuttier as ever, with Nora starting to embrace the dark side just a teeny tiny bit - only for a greater good, of course. The mystery surrounding the death of their great-aunt had an interesting cast of suspects, although not nearly so interesting as the life Aunt Madeline lived. A very short list of suspects meant that the 'reveal' at the end wasn't shocking, but also wasn't obvious. I am happy to see that in this book, Michael finally pulled his head out of his nether regions and revealed a bit of the mystery, as his refusal to share anything in previous books was wearing thin. I genuinely hope to see more of Nora Blackbird in many future books - it's truly one of my all-time favorite series, and with No Way to Kill a Lady, Ms. Martin has shown that she and Nora still have plenty of tales to tell. The further adventures of the Blackbird sisters. Very enjoyable read. Nora, Emma and Libby are heirs to their great-aunt Madeleine's estate. When looking through Madeleine's house Quintain, they discover a body in the elevator. Adventure ensues. Micheal make a reappearance after serving time in prison and now trying to break up the Aburzzo empire. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
