Ted, the irrepressible little bear who is always imagining himself in various professions, and whose story began in Doctor Ted and continued in Firefighter Ted, returns in this third picture-book, this time fancying himself as an artist. Inspired by the blank canvases around him, from the white walls at home to the white shirt of his new classmate, Ted creates some masterpieces, only to find that not everyone is impressed. Can he set things right, when Pierre, the new pupil whose shirt he "improved," becomes upset...?

The third and thus far final story about this imaginative ursine hero from author Andrea Beaty and illustrator Pascal Lemaître, Artist Ted is structured like its predecessors, opening in the morning, and featuring the profession or calling that Ted thought about at the end of the previous day (and book). At the end of this one, Ted thinks about hunting clues, so if there is ever a fourth book in the series, no doubt it will be titled "Detective Ted." I appreciate the humor in these stories, as Ted blithely imagines he is pleasing everyone around him, when in reality he is causing chaos, and I imagine young children will be likewise amused. Recommended to anyone who had read and enjoyed the previous Ted books, and to anyone looking for picture-book about the artistic impulse. ( )
