NCLA Review: This is a book for serious seekers. R.T. Kendall, who was senior minister for Westminster Abbey for twenty-five years, wrote this book to assure that readers fully grasp the deep significance of the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord’s Prayer, and various parables. The book’s format of double-columned pages and small print resembles the Bible, and should be read the same way: slowly with reverence and a willingness to apply the messages to oneself. The author is a bit repetitious making his points, but I found that this served to hammer home the message most effectively. I was hammered by this book most joyfully. It shed new light on my desire to learn God’s will and to live it, to experience the Holy Spirit within, and to find joy in doing so. Rating: 4 —EB

This extensive and comprehensive look at the sermon is neither a quick nor an easy read, but for charismatic and evangelical pastors, seminarians, and lay readers who appreciate Kendall's sermons, the rewards are well worth the effort.
