Wow talk about dropping the ball. I'm not sure I've read this author before but her tone seemed a bit different from other HP authors and I enjoyed it even if it felt slightly vaguer perhaps. You didn't know the hero at all. The heroine had come to Hollywood because she wanted to be a director. That seemed to come out of the blue in her life. I mean it's odd to not even have the heroine have gone to college for cinema or anything. But I'll ignore that. So the story was okay she was hired to be his girlfriend to improve his image and circumstances force them to carry it all the way through marriage. The other woman who he'd supposedly been having an adulterous affair with comes back into the picture while they are on their honeymoon during a movie shoot in Africa. The hero was all I wasn't forced to marry you, you are the one I picked. No I love yous. But they seemed to really be making a go of the marriage but once the OW was back in the picture he was sort of at her beck and call. She hung on him and called him all the time and he called her and finally one day the heroine had had it and called him on it. Choose either her or me. You're either in this marriage or not and I need you to pick me. He said basically I won't. He was leaving for a movie premiere with the OW and she said I won't be here when you get back and he basically said Okay and left. For MONTHS! Like enough time to make two movies and do a play. Finally she files for divorce even though he says he's Catholic and doesn't believe in that. So he comes back around to contest the divorce and here's where it goes south in a big hurry. The hero accuses her off causing the whole thing with her insecurity. That he was just letting her cool off. This was probably about 8 months at least after he walked out on her to go to another country with the OW. Blah blah some drama. Ends up the heroine rolls over and says yes I did throw you out because I felt I would never be enough for you and I was sure you would eventually cheat. He did explain that he was just helping the poor alcoholic OW out because she was a friend and his mom had died of alcoholism and he just couldn't let her go through it alone. That's not how friends act. And he was not that kind of man. But evidently he was the kind of man who didn't tell his wife why he felt like he had to spend so much time with another woman. The kind of man who made no effort to fight for his marriage until her divorce petition went up against his Catholicism. The kind who didn't care enough for his wife to remember his vow to forsake all others. Once you're are married you spouse has to be more important than another woman no matter how friendly or drunk. Get her some professional help and move on. The poor heroine was begging him to choose her and somehow it turned out to be all her fault. I almost feel like dropping it more than two stars after writing this review. I'll leave it though since I enjoyed 3/4th of it. ( ) When I first heard what the title of the book was going to be I actually thought yuck! However, the title really depicts the storyline and let me tell you it's just another wonderful Jane Porter book. It's full of heat, a ton of ups and downs and once I began reading the book I read it well into the wee hours of the morning. Jane is such an incredible author and this book is wonderful! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
