Ken Farmer and Buck Stienke have teamed up to write an exciting, adventure-riddled, subtly romantic book entitled Black Eagle Force; Eye of the Storm. They begin the story with a history lesson – how Santa Anna came across the Rio Grande to San Antonio and the Alamo. This short lesson is actually personalized by naming the owners of a large ranch that the Mexicans had to go through to reach that part of Texas in the fight for Texas Independence.

Fast forward to modern times.

The family of the 1836 ancestors still lives on the ranch. Gunter Hermann, the patriarch and father of Mike and Blaze, keep the ranch operating with the help of several employees. Another war is in the making. This war is still with Mexicans, but there is a different reason for it.

“Michael Otto Hermann had had it. He had damn well had it with all the BS in the new war on terror. He had had it with all the illegal aliens, liberal politicians and pontificators, violent drug gangs, sleazy Mexican politicians, and corrupt members of the army.”

The reader is carried along with the characters, both good and bad, as they become embroiled in a spine tingling adventure that will keep the reader wanting more. Some readers will be put off by the pages of technical information about vehicles, airplanes and guns, but the information gives the reader insight into how intense the situation is. Will the ranch family get help to protect their ranch? Tune in to find out.
I liked the plot and the characters. The plot is well thought out and executed and the characters are well defined and interesting. I believe that the novel is written so that it could be adapted to a movie or TV miniseries. Let’s hope that if that is the case, they will keep the character of the book.
Buck Stienke is a retired captain and fighter pilot for the United States Air Force and a graduate from the Air Force Academy. He was a pilot for Delta Airlines for over 25 years and also executive producer of the award winning film Rockabilly Baby.
Ken Farmer served in the Marine Corps and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. Ken has been a professional actor, writer and director with memorable roles in Silverado, Friday Night Lights and Uncommon Valor. He continues to write and direct award-winning films, including Rockabilly Baby. ( )

This well written and exciting adventure story is reminiscent of the Tom Clancy novels at their best, but this book has more action. The authors describe the battles and other exploits of a unique battle force in fascinating detail that draw readers into the clashes. Readers will react as they read and as they finish this action-packed drama: “Wow! When will the next book come out?”

The US Posse Comitatus act of 1878 limits the power of the federal government to use military forces for law enforcement. Accordingly, according to this novel, President Ronald Reagan had a secret civilian ultra rapid deployment black ops strike force organization established that was independent of the military for plausible deniability. They would protect the country from criminals such as drug dealers whether in the US or abroad. He made sure that the organization had the best trained crème de la crème men and women, special ops personnel from all military branches, and the most up to date equipment, sometimes far better than any other organization. Their motto is Semper Paro Bellum, Latin for Always Ready for War. They became one of the most valuable assets of the US government, fighting in the USSR, China, the Balkans, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Argentina, and a host of other countries where the US military could not engage.

This book describes several battles and the people who fought in them. It begins with the conflict with the Mexican general Santa Anna in 1836, when the general led a large army against the Texans. It tells how a family fought bravely against this attack. The site of this battle, called the Eagle Nest, and the descendants of it play a part in the adventures of the Black Eagle Force. Similarly, the book describes the exploits of some men during the Vietnam War, how they acted heroically, and how what they said and what they did affected their future and the future of the Black Eagle Force.

The book tells about a modern attack on the Eagle Nest where there were sixty eight casualties of men in the Mexican military and twelve civilians. These men worked for Colonel Hernado Garcia who was deeply involved in drug wars and smuggling people and drugs, and killing the illegal Mexican immigrants he brought to the US. Garcia frequently received support from the Mexican government. The book also tells of the battles with Colonel Garcia after this attack on the Eagle Nest. It tells as well about how the Black Eagle Force saved twenty-one kidnapped young women who were kept by Colonel Garcia to satisfy his sexual urges.

In summary, this book is filled with action, adventure, heroic personalities, and is a well-told story. ( )
