Bailey is an elementary school student like no other -- he's a dog! He nearly misses the bus, ate his homework, and gets into other minor kerfuffles at school but at the end of the day, he is a beloved member of the class.

This is a really cute book, perfect for dog lovers. In a roundabout way, it's also a good one to share with children at the beginning of their school year as a introduction/reminder of what takes place at school (sans the dog, the rest of the school day seen here is fairly typical). The illustrations are a little more cartoonish that I usually prefer, but they work for this charming book. They also display at least some diversity in the children and parents depicted. ( )

Bailey loves to go to school! This sweet book give young readers a look into what a school day looks like from Bailey's perspective. Bailey talks about all of his favorite things to do and things he likes to eat. Overall a super cute read!

Bailey is a dog that is attending school with human children. He has a lot of fun and makes school enjoyable for everyone. He is a little different than all his friends. He eats his homework, chews bones. and loves squirrels.

Bailey tells the story of Bailey the dog getting ready and going through a day of school. This isn't just a dog sneaks into school but rather a dog who is a student in a regular school. Bailey has a lot of normal child behaviors but they are transferred to dog like behaviors. For example, the toys around Bailey's room are dog toys not kids toys.
This picture book has a lot of humor to it that derives from the illustration. This could be used as part of an illustrator study due to Bliss' prolific career as an illustrator.

This story was not my favorite. It had a cute dog but it did not really have a moral. I did not see any lesson that could be taught by this book so as far as children's books go I would not recommend it for the classroom. It is a fine book but there is just no reason to use it in class. ( )
