To know that we had a chance to have this man as president, and instead we ended up with Donald Fucking Trump, makes me want to weep.

This is the famous 2010 filibuster (that ultimately failed) that Bernie delivered. You can watch the whole thing on youtube, which I would recommend if you have a spare 8 1/2 hours. As such, the book can be very repetitive at times (Bernie states that he didn't have the whole speech planned out, just some cold hard facts and a will of iron - okay, he didn't say that last part, but it's true).

Also, mad props for Sherrod Brown getting in on this action when it comes to this filibuster. I'm originally from Ohio, where Sherrod Brown is a Senator (and the senior one, at that), and I freaking love him. Talk about another champion of the worker! God, just imagining a Sanders-Brown ticket makes me insanely happy.

But the Democratic Party didn't want Sanders as their candidate. Of course they didn't. Democrats and Republicans, for the most part, are different sides of the same coin. And that is why, after the DNC leaked emails came out, this atheist Jew (oh gee, doesn't THAT sound familiar if you've read the emails, hmm?) went online and immediately changed my party affiliation from Democrat to Green. The Democratic Party of old is dead, with only a few stragglers hanging on who actually stand for the party of FDR and the like (Sherrod Brown is one of those stragglers).

Sanders is different - an independent from a small, liberal state (Vermont) who didn't have tons of money behind his campaign. Sanders could have done great things for our country. I, for one, am still feeling the Bern. #feelthebern2020 ( )

Bernie Sanders is not only knowledgeable; he has a rich store of common sense that is no longer at all common, particularly in the political world. He is just about the Only congressman ready and willing to stand up and say the emporer has no clothes. He takes the crap that is being passed out as Inevitable and tells us the truth. I love him, I love the speech, I am so glad someone was smart enough, and kind enough, to turn it into a book. ( )
