This is the second in the series and it continues where Angelfire left off. This book was very fast paced and it was definitely a page turner. There were a few twists and turns and it just made you want to continue you to see what would happen next. ( )

Loved it. I love the world that Courtney Allison Moulton created. I was lucky enough to win an ARC of this. I absolutely LOVED the first book so was extremely excited to get book 2. From the very first page I was sucked into the book and I honestly couldnt put it down!! This book had me on the edge of my seat and crying so hard at a certain bit!! Its not even out yet but I need book 3!!

Wings of the Wicked is the second book in the Angelfire trilogy. Ellie and Will are back to continue their fight against evil. Ellie is struggling to maintain her old life at home and at school. She is trying to keep the relationship with Will professional and friendly. The reader can see that they are totally attracted to each other. Will continues to teach Ellie how to fight. She has gotten really good at calling her angelfire swords to kill evil reapers.

Cadan, an evil reaper, finds Ellie and instead of trying to kill her, he gives her valuable information. Ellie does not know what to make of this, but she does feel that she can trust him even though everyone around her not to. Ellie is beginning to get more and more of her old memories back. Will is introducing her to her new “old” friends that she has known for hundreds of years. Ellie is also discovering a power that she does not remember having before. The feelings between Ellie and Will grow stronger as they hunt together each night. During one of their last battles towards the end of the book, Will gets attacked by a Rikken and he slowly starts to die as the poison invades his body. Ellie realizes she will do anything for Will. Readers will have to wait until the third book for the conclusion.

The professional reviews are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Kirkus says this book is
“extreme…emo…and silly” and VOYA says its “gripping”. I would definitely put this book in the middle. It’s supposed to be a fun, romantic, adventure, paranormal story. I think it makes a good YA/adult read. When I first started the series, I was skeptical because of the reviews. However, when I couldn’t put the books down and finished the entire trilogy in one weekend; I was captivated. I am really enjoying this series.

I think this is a good buy for school libraries that have readers who enjoy urban fantasy, paranormal action/adventure/romance. Cadan, Will and Ellie make up a love triangle. Kate, Ellie’s best friend and Marcus also provide a romantic arc. It’s a pretty long book for a YA novel, but I think that most readers would be hooked by the first book. Angelfire would be good for a book club choice and then having the 2nd and 3rd book in the library would be a good idea for those wanting to finish the trilogy. I would put this book on a paranormal or angel themed book display. I would also include this book in a Michigan authors display or book talk. Students in my school will love reading about the metro Detroit area in a YA fiction book. ( )

I enjoyed this one, but not as much as the first book.
First, what I didn't like. Wasn't so much a fan if the constant action I this one. Felt like to much.Also frustrated with Ellie for awhile about flippant way she seemed to regard the safety of those she loved although I guess she had to learn the lesson hard way and by the end, I saw so much growth and change in her.
There were a couple of secondary characters that I enjoyed. Marcus was one of them. He made me smile. Also, Her conversations with Nathaniel were a bright spot. I was also pretty intigued with Cadan and what his angle was. I liked their banter though, and the scenes he was in.
Loved the romance. This was something that did not change. I fawn over Will and he was as amazing and dedicated as I remembered from the first.
I will def be reading the 3rd soon, in fact, already on the wait list from the library, because I was left hanging, and I have to know what is going to happen.

Bottom Line: Good second book with a few issues.

We are back with the second installment of the Angelfire Trilogy.

Ellie and Will are all business! No tender touches, or subtle glances, nothing! But things really heat up in the world of demon hunting. Cadan is back and is feeding insider info on Bastien’s plans to Ellie. Ellie learns who she really is and the treacherous lengths the reapers will go to to secure their plans.

Whew…don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed Angelfire, but this one blew it out of the water! Tons of action, intrigue, some romance…ohhhh, it was good! Everything is kicked up several notches as good battles evil for world domination.

Ellie really goes through HELL in this book, physically, emotionally, mentally as she tries to stop Bastien’s plans. She and Will try get to a comfortable place but can’t, especially after some major and tragic events take place. It was so sad to watch them both go through the events in this story. I admit I had the Kleenex out a few times.

Huge build-up to what will be the main event in the third book! I just hope we don’t have to wait too long! ( )
