A young boy stops into Mary O'Reilly's detective agency to ask for help finding his kidnapped brother. The only problem is that Mary's new client is dead.

I enjoy the stories because the settings are familiar. Ms. Reid is an excellent storyteller. There are places where the writing could use a little more polish, but she left me anxious to read the next in the series. ( )

These are nice mysteries. Good for any age to read. They are well written and flow easily. This one increased the depth of the two main characters, Mary & Bradley. It also took their relationship to the next level.

No sex. Just a good mystery with ghost, a side of romance and a dash of humor.
I would have given it 5 stars if it was more intense with adult scenes, but these books are more of a relaxing read.

They are interesting and show a lot of potential. Great for Young Adults!

Mary O'Reilly, former Chicago cop, speaks to dead people, and helps resolve the issue that keeps their spirits here. I read this one (#2) first by mistake, and am hooked on the series - immediately went to the first one.

This book starts with the kidnapping of an infant, and moves the setting to the Chicago area where we get to enjoy Mary's three older brothers and parents interaction while they try to recover the infant (among other things). Oh, and let's not forget about the Chief of Police that helps out, while Mary and he try to deny their mutual attraction..

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: Black Friday - the official opening of the Holiday Shopping Season and Patrice Marcum is stuck in the middle of her local superstore with a crying infant, a near hysterical desire to just abandon the diapers and milk she desperately needs, and the snowstorm of the century dumping a half-foot of snow on the parking lot outside. She needs a miracle.
The little old lady seemed sweet, but there was no way Patrice was going to leave three-month old Jeremy with a stranger. She looked outside at the snow-covered parking lot and saw yet another distressed shopper’s cart topple over in the drifts. Mary and Chief of Police, Bradley Alden follow the couple who kidnapped Jeremy from Freeport to Chicago. Luckily, Baby Jeremy has a big brother, who is his guardian angel. His guardian angel Joey died just before Jeremy was born but, he can follow Jeremy. Joey leads Mary and Bradley to Jeremy.

There is more than just a kidnapping in this book, there is a dirty cop, drug dealing, drug mules and, a Viet Nam ghost soldier looking for a 40-year-old letter. A great ghost story with lots of mayhem. ( )
