I really love this series. I can’t decide who I want Calla with I like Shay
But I like Ren also. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series ( )

Audio- Well, here we go- the searchers are not what they seemed, the Guardians are not what they seemed and the Keepers are really not what was told all these years. The truth is finally out, and it is an ugly dark one. One of the pack will become a traitor, breaking hearts. The searchers will lose someone dear, breaking more hearts. Everything is at stake, even the fragile love building between Cali and Shay.
Whirlwind story telling with one twisted cliffhanger, grrr. Can't wait for the next one ! ( )

Did not star because did not finish. Likely more appealing to the YA audience geared to; but, a grim, unpleasant entry to the series even, I suspect, for the fans.

First book in series left me on the fence whether or not continue series (good: heroine showing gumption to not accept role this worldbuilding's repressive society assigned her -- with a willingness to question status quo, think for herself and follow her heart; bad: most of book unpleasant and not a lot of action or clues until the end plus had unresolved love triangle which is never a favorite plot of mine).

In this followup and middle portion of a trilogy (or longer series) -- the good went away. Determinedly stuck it out more than halfway thru but -- unrelentingly unpleasant, none of the mysteries revealed or resolved or even logically clued (the only "more" we find out comes from storytelling within the story style of infodump [centuries old mythologies] and surprise ambushes). Heroine suddenly powerless, accepting of pretty much everything and not resisting anything. Everyone running around clueless until ambushed at which point some get killed/taken/damaged and the others get to angst blaming themselves for getting ambushed. Heroine does not know even her own mind and while love triangle takes major backseat (Shay character present, Ren doesn't show up until towards end) waffles mentally back and forth on the love triangle thing and comes physically close repeatedly to Shay and then backs off; almost, then yet not. Almost, then yet not, finds out stuff. Almost, then yet not, decides who to trust. Almost ... well, I almost then yet not decided to read the book to the finish.

When last we left Calla in “Nightshade,” she and Shay had been rescued by the Searchers. In “Wolfsbane,” she learns about the lies taught to her by the Keepers, while Shay finds out he is a secret weapon called The Scion that can be used to permanently end the war between the Keepers and Searchers. As The Scion, the Keepers want his death while the Searchers need his power to win.

I didn't like this one quite as well as the first. I felt there was a lot going on and it didn't all connect and flow for me. Still a fun read, and hopefully the next one will be even better. ( )
