I lived next door to a fella who read lots once. One night I heard this great grinding sound, followed by scraping and sucking. I tumbled out of bed to see his whole house vanish in a sinkhole. The guy never read lots again.
7-Mr-Dustin-
Hey, at least he is making a suggestion. And for that matter, at least he's part of this group. You might as well join the group if you want to mock its members.
8geneg
I'm sorry if you thought I was mocking the group. If I was it was totally unintentional. Read lots just struck me in that sort of oblique way that tickles my funny-bone. Please forgive me if I gave offense.
Just for that I guess I will join the group. BTW, what are you trying to accomplish in this thread? Maybe I can make a serious suggestion, too.

Ah, well no harm done then, I suppose.
The goal of this thread is to hopefully come up with a name and/or purpose for this group, seeing as it currently lacks any real reason for being and "The Literati" seems rather pretentious to me and was meant as a temporary placeholder in the "Group Name" slot until something better came along.

haha, no offense taken... I have a severely misguided and immature sense of humour at times. Also, despite what my previous post may have suggested, I am literate and do have a serious suggestion.
"The Literati, we are pretentious mother fuckers."
I actually like the name Literati... it's very mobesque
Let's go with... "Say hello to my little friend... Charles Dickens."

Oooooo, I've got it... "The Literati, we are pretentious individuals who copulate with mothers."

I agree with Billyfan, The Literati is a great name. It was the name that got me to look. I think the group description should be so absolutely over the top in its arrogance and pretentiousness that interested people will know we don't take ourselves too seriously.
14-Mr-Dustin-
Alright then, motion passed, "The Literati" stays. Now all that is needed is the most outlandishly pretentious description we can think of and all will be well and the universe will be in balance.
15-Mr-Dustin-
Well, in the interim while it's being decided, I changed the description to "A literary society for the Internets."
Feel free to "Yay!" or "Nay!" it at your own discretion.

Well, the name and description got me suitably intrigued, and once I'd looked in here & realised that you really don't take yourselves too seriously at all, I thought i'd pad the ranks a bit by joining too...
