Anyone think Andre's recent admission for his upcoming autobiography will change anything about his image? His legacy? Change any minds?

On the assumption that someone else is interested, how 'bout Martina Navratilova's reaction? :

“Shocking,” Navratilova said Thursday from Sarasota, Fla., in a phone interview. “Not as much shock that he did it as shock he lied about it and didn’t own up to it. He’s up there with Roger Clemens, as far as I’m concerned. He owned up to it (in the book), but it doesn’t help now.”

“Andre lied and got away with it,” Navratilova said. “You can’t correct that now. Do you take away a title he wouldn’t have won if he had been suspended? He beat some people when he should have been suspended.”

I can certainly understand her anger about the second point; but the first seems off base to me. Yeah, they both lied about drugs, but there the resemblance ends. Clemens lied about cheating with performance-enhancing drugs. Andre's use had nothing to do with tennis or performance.

I have less respect for him. If he's trying to be a role model for kids, it's not the way to do it.

I think he just wants to make himself feel better, knowing that some people will cut him slack and admire his honesty.

I would admire him more if he hadn't done it when he was in a "job" that specifically prohibited it. He should have quit if he hated tennis so much and was so conflicted.
