Who is going to be buying the new Beatles Rock Band game when it comes out in September?

I already have mine preordered.

The game is an absurdity. But I suppose it's viewed as a way to introduce The Beatles to the next generation.

More important are the LP remasters to be released the same month.

LOL I feel the same way about the remastered CDs as you feel about the game, I guess. The CDs are just another way to make money--hey, let's reissue the same CDs again and say they are going to sound better, and see how many people are foolish enough to buy them.

The game, while still a way to bring in more money to the game manufacturer (and Paul and Ringo I'm sure, but more for the game people) is something new and different, and I know that people who attend the Fest for Beatles Fans in Chicago as well as those who attend Abbey Road on the River are excited for the game. But the makers of Rock Band saw the excitement that still surrounds the Beatles and wanted to capitalize on that. And since the Wii is more common among older people and nongamers, it's not likely to introduce the next generation to the Beatles. In fact, if the younger generation isn't already into the Beatles, chances are they aren't going to get into it just because of Rock Band--especially when there are other options available for them.

But to each his own, I guess.

1 and 3: How do you like it? I may have to break down and spend the money -- friends of mine who live far away report that they *love* it!

"LOL I feel the same way about the remastered CDs as you feel about the game, I guess. The CDs are just another way to make money--hey, let's reissue the same CDs again and say they are going to sound better, and see how many people are foolish enough to buy them."

You haven't heard them, of course, so don't actually know what you're talking about.

Take it from one who HAS heard the remasters: you are dead wrong about them. They are in fact REMASTERS, and they are in fact significantly SUPERIOR to all prior Beatles CDs releases.

"The game, while still a way to bring in more money to the game manufacturer (and Paul and Ringo I'm sure, but more for the game people) is something new and different, and I know that people who attend the Fest for Beatles Fans in Chicago as well as those who attend Abbey Road on the River are excited for the game."

Yawn. And --

"But the makers of Rock Band saw the excitement that still surrounds the Beatles and wanted to capitalize on that."

You have it exactly backwards. "The Beatles" is a registered trademark, and can not be used commerically without paying for the privilege. It was Apple/The Beatles who selected who would make the game, not the reverse.

"And since the Wii is more common among older people and nongamers, it's not likely to introduce the next generation to the Beatles. In fact, if the younger generation isn't already into the Beatles, chances are they aren't going to get into it just because of Rock Band--especially when there are other options available for them."

Dead wrong again. And you attend Beatles "fests"!?

"But to each his own, I guess."

The difference, in this instance, between knowing what one is talking about, and not knowing. You are in the latter category; and not much of an actual Beatles fan: their MUSIC matters BEFORE all else, INCLUDING the "Rock Band" game. And yet you dismiss out of hand the REMASTERS without having even heard them. Stupid does as stupid is.

Carport,

The game is great! I can't say enough good things about it, plus you get some great pictures and great dialogue from the Beatles themselves.

The dreamscapes and other backgrounds, of course, are essentially impossible to see when you're playing. I suppose that it's best for those who are watching instead of playing. If you LOVE the Beatles, you will LOVE the Beatles Rock Band. It's one of those games that you never get tired of playing. I do wish they had more songs to play, but of course, it would be terribly expensive to buy the whole catalog even if it were available.

So, the game is great, and the versions of the songs, which can be a different take than the version that actually ended up on the CDs at times, have been getting a lot of attention from Beatles circles.

It's definitely worth the investment for those who can afford it.

Avoding the issue, eh?

"the versions of the songs, which can be a different take than the version that actually ended up on the CDs"

The "versions" "that actually ended up on the CDs" are the versions which were on the original LP releases, and on the earlier CD releases.

You not only don't know a whole lot about The Beatles, you know nothing whatsoever about the REMASTERS, which are IN FACT REMASTERS.
