Shade Parliament lives in the shady woodland where squirrels and wood mice are plentiful, their feather are dappled brown or tawny to blend in.
They live in hollow trees or up in the branches.
They are great hunters and can swoop down and grab their prey without them noticing.
This move is called ‘Swoop and Lunge’
They are named after forest-living animals or plants or just dark things like Mouse and Shadow

Rush’s parliament inhabits the marshy, muddy areas where many streams run.
They hunt freshwater fish, Muskrats, and water hens.
They have waterproof feathers and scaly legs so they don’t get too wet while hunting.
They have excellent hearing and sight and can even detect a fish moving from a long way.
Their hunting technique is listening and looking for movement on the surface then quickly swooping and snatching the fish with their talons, this requires patience as you need to wait for the fish to come out.
They are named after marsh plants or animals like Bullrush, Water-lily, and Vole

Scree’s parliament lives in Dark pine groves where the trees blot out all light except for a few splinters.
They are experts at swooping through the darkness unseen and unheard.
They have darker feathers than the other parliaments to camouflage with the darkness,
They are named after weather, stones, and trees like Storm, Boulder, and Cedar

Melody was running around in her nest, muttering "I wonder if i will ever learn to fly"

Violet flew and landed on the branch

Melody looked over at Violet and looked exited.

"Hello," She hooted

"Hi Violet!" Melody hooted back, stumbly walking on the branch she was on.

"Careful!" Violet said

Melody grinned, trying to be as careful as possible.

Ash was flying around before noticing Melody.

Violet looked up, "Get back in! There's a hawk!" She screeched.

Melody cried as she tried running back into the nest, almost falling onto the ground.

Violet followed her and gently pushed her into the nest

Melody shook as Ash stayed where he was, "Dang it! That owlet was going to be my lunch!"

Violet screeched at the hawk

Ash flew away, grumbling to himself.

Violet went back into the hole, shaking like a leaf in a tornado

Melody hooted, "I-Is the hawk gone?"

"I-I-I think so," Violet said in a small voice

Melody stumbled over, snuggling into Violet.

Violet snuggled back

"Maybe we just wait..."

"Wait for the hawk to leave?" She said, "That's a good idea."

"Yeah....but they may get the other hawks"

"Then we'll wait," she said, snuggling closer

"O-Okay....but im scared..."

"It's okay Melody, I'm here. Nothing can hurt us right now."

"I guess thats true...especially with you"

She hooted gently

Melody hooted back, smiling.

Violet slowly fell asleep

Melody was already asleep while Ash flew back overhead, trying to make his wings quieter.

Violet awoke to the sound of wingbeats

Melody was curled up in a tiny fluffball.

Ash was sitting ontop of where the 'nursery' would be staying as quiet as he could.

Violet poked her head out of the den

Ash grinned, looking at the back of the nest area, looking for a weak spot.

Violet screeched and attacked the hawk, easily dodging any attacks that Ash would try as she was much faster

Ash screeched, flying away angrily, leaving a hole in the nest wall.

Violet chased him, biting his feet

Melody shivered, hooting loudly.

Ash screeched, "Ow! Stop!"

"Then leave and don't come back!" She hooted, going back to where Melody was

Melody was still shivering, "C-C-Cold"

Violet snuggled Melody, "I know, I need to fix that hole."

Melody snuggled into Violet, "Hawk....made hole?"

She nodded, "But I chased him off, gave him a few good bites too."

"Y-Yay!"

Violet hooted, "Let me patch up that hole."

"Thanks Violet, want me to help?"

"Sure, I need to go get twigs first."

"Okay!"

*sighs in confused about life*)) Violet flew to the ground, coming back with a beak full of twigs

*huggo*)) Melody grabbed some of the twigs, stumbling over to the hole.

*hugs back*)) Violet started to weave them back into the hole

Melody tried to help, but she was too short.

Violet smiled, "Could you get me some more twigs from the pile?" She asked

"Yeah!" Melody hooted, running towards the pile.

"Be careful!" She said

Melody almost tripped, but stood still.

Violet finished with her pile at her feet, "We almost have the hole patched."

"Yay!" Melody said, bringing a few sticks over.

Violet finished the hole, "There we do."

"Yayy! Its not cold anymore!"

Violet hooted, "Do you want to snuggle now?"

Melody nodded, walking over.

Violet pressed against Melody

Melody was close to falling asleep, hooting softly.

Violet was also softly hooting, all most asleep

Melody woke up, smelling the scent of prey.

Violet was already up and had brought Melody a mouse

Melody smiled, "Yay! Mouse!"

Melody grabbed the mouse, ripping into it.

Violet stretched out her wings

Melody hooted "want to share it?"

"Sure," she hooted back, taking a bite of the mouse

Melody grinned, taking another bite of the mouse.

Violet ate another bite

She grinned, fluffing out her soft feathers.

"That's very good," she said, also fluffing out her feathers

"Yeah and you caught it!"

She hooted, "I did,"

"This is even better!"

She smiled, blushing

Melody smiled, "I hope im this good when I'm older!"

"You will be this good if not better."

"But i dont want to be better than you"

"It's a possibility."

"Then i will make sure it doesnt happen!"

"No, you should try your best."

"Yeah...but your the best guardian"

Violet hooted happily, "Thank you."

"Your welcome Violet"

She gently rubbed against Melody

Melody hooted, shaking a little.

"Are you okay Melody?" Violet said gently

"Yeah, just trying to shake loose feathers off"

"Need me to help preen you?"

"Yeah, i do"

Violet hooted, preening Melody

Melody cooed a little, helping as much as she could.

"Better?" she asked

"Yeah its a lot better"

Violet fluffed out her feathers

"Hehe, i wanna learn how to fly- especially away from hawks!"

"You will, you are just slightly to young."

"Awww"

"One more moon." she said

"One more moon will take forever!"

"Maybe, but you need to be a bit older. Your feathers aren't fully grown yet."

"I bet they are!"

"They aren't."

"Then i'll show you!" Melody hooted rushing towards the edge of the nest.

Violet barely caught Melody, "NO!" she screeched

Melody looked at the ground, screeching to be let go.

"No, you'll die!" Violet said

Melody hooted, "Fine"

Violet pulled her back, snuggling her. "Don't scare me like that again!"

"I-I just want to fly...."

"I know," She cooed, "But you are simply not old enough."

"B-But your a good flier"

"Yes, but I'm moons older than you are." she said

"Even my brother flew before me and we were close in age!"

"He's still a moon older than you!"

"A moon or not he can fly!"

Violet sighed, "It's getting late, you need to sleep."

"I slept earlier!"

"You are grouchy so you need a nap."

"I napped earlier!" Melody screeched, not wanting to sleep.

"Calm down then." she said, wincing at the loud noise

"Fine" she grumbled quietly.

Violet snuggled against Melody

Melody yawned, quickly falling into a nap like state.

Violet gently moved and watched Melody

Melody snored softly.

Violet sank into a sleep that'd easily wake her up if Melody moved a lot

Melody turned and had her face facing Violet.

Violet was still asleep

Melody fell back to sleep, snoring softly.

"Did you say something?"

"Okay."

Melody got up, wanting to grab a piece of prey.

Violet stayed asleep

She climbed across the branch, grabbing a small mouse.

Violet started to hoot

Melody hooted back, eating the mouse.

Violet emerged from the nest

She smiled, "Look! I made it!"

"Good job!"

Melody started walking back over, anxious.

"Be careful."

"I-I know"

Violet hooted encouragingly

Melody finally made it, hooting happily.

Violet hooted happily as well, hugging Melody with her wings

Melody hugged back, happy.

"You did it!"

"Yay! Im so happy!"

"I think you're ready to fly now."

"Eek! yay!"

"But first sleep." she said tiredly

"Okay!"

Violet sighed, falling asleep quickly

Melody curled up into Violet.

Violet sighed

She muttered, "Thank...you....mama"

Melody mumbled, "five more minutess"

"Okay," she whispered

Melody kept sleeping, her feathers even fluffier.

Violet gently rubbed against her feathers

Violet fluffed her feathers and snuggled against Melody

She snored softly and slept for a little longer than five minutes

Violet let her

Melody turned onto her back, snoring slightly louder.

Violet chirped, falling asleep again

Melody got up running towards the prey pile.

Ash was nearby, glancing hungrily at Melody.

Violet also got up and went to the prey pile

Ash watched easily, his beak open.

Melody grabbed a mouse, happy.

Violet spotted Ash, "Don't you dare!" she shrieked

Melody hooted, "I got a mouse!"

"Not you Melody, I'm talking about the hawk," violet said

"Hawk?!" Melody screeched, running behind Violet.

Violet hooted aggresively at Ash

Ash chuckled, "Wow, so 'aggressive' "

Violet glared at him, "Want me to bite your feet again?"

Ash chuckled, "Well you can give me that owlet then you don't have to"

"You aren't going to get Melody," she squeeked

Melody started shaking, dropping the mouse.

"Melody, get back to the nest," she said

Melody nodded, rushing towards the nest the mouse still lying on the ground.

"Just leave hawk, you aren't going to eat Melody."

Ash then looked at the prey pile, "Well then, I'll take a piece of prey"

"Then take one," Violet challenged.

Ash landed on the area, walking towards the prey pile.

Violet watched him intently

He grabbed a mouse, flying away.

Violet squeeked and shook as she made it back to the nest

Melody hooted, "My mouse! I left it!"

"I'll get you a new one," Violet said

"Okay Violet"

Violet rushed out and grabbed Melody a mouse before racing back

Melody hooted "Yay! What did that creepy hawk want?"

"Just some food," VIolet said, swaying from exauhstion

"Oh- you need sleep!"

"Yeah, I do," she hooted, collapsing

Melody ran towards her, hooting "I'll protect you!"

"Thank you Melody," she said, sinking into sleep

VIolet awoke around dawn, "Today is when Melody becomes a trainee."

Melody was asleep at the entrance, and Ash was taking yet another piece of prey.

"Can't you hunt something other than our own prey?" Violet asked, grabbing a mouse

"Well, you let me, instead of taking that owlet"

"Can't you hunt on your own though?" She asked, "I'm pretty sure I saw some hawks catching deer."

"Yeah, i can but i choose to take others"

"That's rude," she hooted taking a few steps closer, "I've been wondering what it's like to sleep against a hawk."

Ash laughed, "Well im not the one who you are going to be sleeping against"

"Are you sure?" Violet hooted, looking up with big eyes

"Yep, im sure" Ash cawed (idk what noise they make)

Violet sighed, "Fine," she paused, "But I'm letting you eat prey that you never caught."

"Thank you" Ash said, flying away suddenly.

Violet turned her head to watch him go

Melody quickly awoke, yawning.

Violet was already back with a mouse

Melody yawned, "oooh mouse!"

"Here you go."

"Thanks Violet!"

"You're welcome Melody," she hooted, "Are you ready to train?"

"Yeah!"

She smiled

Melody quickly ate the mouse, "Ready!"

"Okay," Violet hooted, "Follow me."

Melody nodded, following Violet quickly.

"Okay, try to flap your wings."

Melody nodded, moving her wings up and down quickly.

"Flap them harder, try and see if you can lift off of the branch a little bit."

Melody nodded, trying to flap her wings harder before lifting off the branch an inch.

"That's a good start," Violet hooted, "We'll keep doing these excercises until your wings are strengthened enough."

"Yay! I cant wait!"

She smiled, "Keep flapping those wings."

Melody kept trying, getting a little higher off the ground.

"That's good." Violet praised her

"Its tiring though- can i take a break?" Melody asked, letting herself fall back onto the branch.

Going to make a hawk rq)) "Yes you may," Violet hooted.

In the hawks nests, Screech walked towards a leaf that had flew towards her

Ash brought back the mouse, grinning as if he had caught it.

"Impressive." Screech said

"Thanks Screech" Ash said.

She smiled, "Although, why do I smell owl on it?"

"I fought an owl to get it" Ash said.

"Then where's the owl?"

"It got away, but left the prey"

Screech sighed, "If you say so."

Ash smiled a little, putting down the prey.

Screech stretched out her wings

Ash yawned, "Jeez- im going to take a nap"

"Go and take your nap then," Screech replied

Ash nodded, walking to his nest.

Screech sighed, taking flight

Melody kept trying to fly higher and higher, laughing.

"That's enough for today," VIolet said as Melody got a foot off of the branch

"Okay! I cant wait to continue tomorrow!"

Violet smiled slightly

Melody let herself fall to the ground before hooting "Wait- do i still sleep in the same nest?"

"If you want to." Violet said

"Yays!" Melody hooted, rushing towards the nest.

Violet ran after her

"Time to nap!"

"Yay! I've actually been feeling tired."

"Really? Is that bad?"

"I have no idea." She said entering the nest. Over head, Screech screeched

"O-Oh no! A hawk!"

Violet sighed, "Maybe they won't see us?"

"Possibly...i hope so"

The hawk screeched again as she landed, "Hello? Owls? I need you to answer a question of mine."

Melody ran behind Violet, shaking.

"What do you want?" Violet asked in a weary voice

"Has a hawk been around here recently?" The hawk's voice replied

Melody nodded a little, "Scary hawk tried breaking nest!"

"I knew that snake didn't catch that mouse!" The voice said as a hawk appeared, "My name is Screech."

"H-He has been taking prey......and soon enough the hawks will only use us for prey..." Melody hooted, still a little scared.

Screech nodded, "I'll stop him. But first, is there anything I can do to help you?"

Violet looked thoughtful, "I've always wondered what it was like to sleep against a hawk."

Melody walked to the edge of the nest, still slightly scared of Screech.

Screech smiled kindly, "What about you little one?"

"C-Can you help train me?" Melody hooted, her eyes wide.

"Maybe, hawks are trained differently than owls but I'll try my best." She said, walking into the nest

"Yay!" Melody hooted, "I can already get up to an inch away from a branch!"

"That's impressive," Screech said, cuddling up to the two owls.

Melody grinned, turning into a small ball of fluffy feathers.

Violet hooted happily as she also poofed out.

Screech smiled as she felt the two warm bodies

"Warm......"

Screech nodded happily, "You two are very warm."

"Yeah, feathers are warm"

Screech let out a little chirp

Melody cooed slightly, moving a little closer.

Screech started to drift off into sleep

Melody was already asleep, comfortable.

Screech awok to find the two owls on top of her

Melody yawned, trying to dig into Screeches feathers.

Screech sighed, staying completely still. She puffed out her own feathers

"Fluffy....."

Screech chirped softly

Melody lifted her head, "Hm?"

Screech fluffed back up her feathers

Ash could be heard flying overhead, although he didn't stop by the fresh-kill pile.

Screech perked her head to the side

Melody hooted quietly "Hawk...."

"I swear, that'd better not be Ash." Screech said softly

The hawk disappeared quickly, a feather dropping.

Screech smiled slightly, puffing back up again

Melody smiled, "Im going to get a piece of prey"

"Okay little one."

Melody ran to the fresh-kill pile, soon freezing to the spot.

Violet finally woke up

Melody was still frozen to the spot, seeming to be staring at something.

Violet got off of Screech before approaching Melody

Melody was mumbling "Haw......haw.....hawk......"

"Where?"

She pointed towards a nearby tree, and Ash was perched on it, staring at her.

"Ash, why are you back?" Violet asked

"Whattt- im just sitting on a branch" Ash said loudly.

Melody shook, fear in her eyes.

"And you are sitting there menacingly," Screech said

"Screech- what are you doing with those- owls" Ash yelled.

"I should ask the same thing," she challenged, "They seem to know you pretty well."

Melody was shaking in fear, glancing back at the nest.

Ash chuckled, "Not my fault they see me passing by"

"No, according to them you've came here and toke food, not once but thrice." Screech said, "I was merely making amends to the mistakes you made."

Melody ran to the nest, without food although she had exited going to grab some earlier.

Ash chuckled, flying down towards the ground and coming back up with a small bone. "These owl's are quite easy to catch, especially owlets too young to fly"

"Quit lying to me."

"Really, Melody's brother was easy to catch since he was more interested in hunting"

"Melody never had a brother." Violet tweeted

Melody shook, "My pa went missing a while back....maybe he meant him..."

"Ash, you've /never/ killed an owl before." Screech sighed

"How do you know Screech?"

"Because, you never brought one home." She said smiling a bit

"Well if i ever did than i would show it off!"

"Exactly, you never showed me one."

"I can catch one now then"

"No you won't!" Violet screeched

"Theres quite a few owl's here- and around the area"

"Ash, quit trying to act like you're something special."

"Well, if i wasnt around stupid owl's all the time maybe i would be!"

"No, you wouldn't."

"Well goodbye then"

"Good luck hunting."

"Thanks"

Screech sighed a bit

* is flying around keeping watch over the parliament*

Melody yawned, "i never got any prey! Dang it!"

*suddenly spots prey cause all this sudden got really hungry, dives down and then snatches prey of the ground*

She walked towards the prey pile, grabbing a mouse.

*lands in a tree and starts to eat the prey*

"Ooh, hiya Void!"

*looks up from prey, swallows food before talking* Hiya Melody!

"What cha doinn?"

Eating, you? *rips off a leg off the prey*

"grabbing prey"

*swallows leg bit* Nice!! Have any luck?

"nope, still training"

Ah ok!! I hope you get luck in getting prey in your stomach!!

"I hope so!"

*chuckles a little and continues to eat prey*

Melody chomped into the mouse she grabbed, enjoying it.

*finshed prey and starts to head back to Parliment*

Melody flapped her wings, almost being able to fly at least a short distance.

*notices Melody, heads back to her* You good?

"Yeah- still kinda learning how to fly long distances"

Do you want me to stick by you?

"Yeah..."

Ok!! *starts to fly at a slower pace to stay with Melody*

Melody started flying back, grinning.

*smiles bigger* You're a very positive owlet, you know that, right?

"Yep! I knoww!"

*giggles a little*

"I want to be the best guardian ever!"

I bet you will be!! Especcially how strong you look for an owlet!

"Hehe- i try to be"

Well that's good!! The stronger you are, the better guradian you'll be!

"Yep!"

*looks ahead and sees we are almost at the Parliment* Ok, you're doing great!! We're almost there!

"Yay!"

*arrives at the parliment and then lands there*

Melody landed, the partly eaten prey in her claws.

Oh looks like you caught something! Good job!!

"Yeah- i only ate part of it"

That's good! Eating your first prey that you caught?

"Yep, i am!"

Melody walked to a nest, lying in it.

She yawned, almost falling asleep.
