CAR Cardinal Reaches Out to Muslims Observing Ramadan, Says “we must always be together” (ACI Africa)

The Cardinal in the Central African Republic (CAR) has reached out to Muslims observing the Holy month of Ramadan with assistance as a sign of solidarity and said, “we must always be together”. On Thursday, April 7, Dieudonné Cardinal Nzapalainga visited the president of the Supreme Islamic Council of the Central African Republic (CSISCA), Imam Mahamat Deleris, and donated some basic food items. The items donated include sugar, rice, flour, vegetable oil, of sardines, tea, and an undisclosed sum of money. “I come here to show the closeness that the Catholic Church or the Christian Church has towards our Muslim brothers,” Cardinal Nzapalainga said during the visit. He added, “This is a chance that God is giving us to live in brotherhood. We have always been together in moments of joy and prayer; we must always be together”...

Blackburn Rovers become first UK football club to host Eid prayers on pitch (Guardian)

Blackburn Rovers have become the first UK football club to host Eid prayers on their pitch. Hundreds of people congregated at Ewood Park on Monday to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Aerial footage tweeted by the club showed about half the pitch covered with prayer mats and a sheikh delivering a sermon. A message from the club read: “Eid Mubarak from everyone at Blackburn Rovers. This morning #Rovers became the first football club in the country to host Eid prayers on the pitch”...


Here in Kenya it is a public holiday today.
