Are we all afraid of showing fear? Does this make us cowards, or is it how we show our strength?

I don't have any trouble showing fear when I am afraid of something. I don't care if anyone thinks I'm a coward. I want someone with strength to come and save me when I am afraid because I would probably faint and then who knows what would happen. lol

>2 EadieB: That's funny!! I think generally speaking that showing fear is considered a weakness, but much more with men than women, though this has changed some over the years. But I think it depends on the situation too.

I believe it's a "man thing" that's drilled into their heads in one form or another from the time they are tiny little boys. >3 gaylebutz: is right...it has changed some over the years and does really depend on the situation. I don't especially agree with Roosevelt when he said "There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Sometimes fear is a good thing and will save your life. I'll have to go along with >2 EadieB:. I don't care in the least if anyone thinks I'm a coward...I'm a living coward.

I don't think many of us like to show weakness and we generally view fear as a weakness. It seems to only be acceptable when watching a horror/slasher film :)

We're all afraid of something, whether it's spiders or heights or anything else; I think the problem is we don't want to be left open to ridicule if we show it.

I agree with everyone, I have no issue showing fear and admit it freely when I'm afraid of something. Of course no one wants to be ridiculed for anything, especially when they have no control over it. Plus some things it's perfectly natural to show fear, like if a gun were pointed at you, it would be very weird if you weren't afraid. I think it's psychopaths or sociopaths that have literally no fear. I'm glad I'm not one of them!
