Dagwood wanted him out of the picture I'm sure. It also looks like the different stations may be short handed but I still blame Dagwood. Can you believe he actually got a promotion?

Tony stands up to Dagwood and I think Dagwood did want him out of the way and kept busy so that Dagwood could do what he does best - nothing!

Daguid enjoys humiliating Tony and having him report to a former colleague is just one of the ways he can get his licks in.

It felt like a punishment; Tony definitely didn't act as though he'd requested a transfer.

>4 Olivermagnus: Agree with Lynda. Sending him to work under a former peer is typical behavior for Duguid. What a slime! Good to see McLean trying to take the high road.

I assumed it was to separate Tony and Duguid after the shouting match in the last book. Despite all of his bad habits, Duguid is still DCI vs Tony's DI rank and that was out of line.
I don't remember - did we know at the end of last book that Duguid was promoted and MacIntyre was gone?

>7 bhabeck: We knew that MacIntyre was leaving but it hadn't been decided who was taking her place. I never thought it would be Duguid. I didn't think it would be Tony because that would take him away from investigating and make the series rather worthless.

I didn't remember McIntyre was going. Definitely a move for Tony as almost a demotion to get him away from Dagwood.
