How do you let people place holds when items are checked out, at the same time, on tiny cat?

Ugh. I'm trying to figure it out. Anyone know?

As of last November, you couldn't.

Per >2 MarthaJeanne:, this is still true - TinyCat does not have a holds queue for circulation, sorry!

Any word from the developers about if this feature is being seriously considered since you last mentioned it in November?

Not at this time, I'm afraid. We'll be sure to announce if/when something does change on this front, but it's unlikely. Thanks for checking in.

I vote for this new functionality. A hold's place as a catalog function is inherently unbound from any restriction because of circ status.

I'm experimenting with my personal library with dummy users and it looks like the Admin user (though not the Patron) can put a hold on a book which is checked out which is a start. Has something changed since the last post?

Nope, nothing's changed since the last post—the admin should always have the ability to make changes to whatever they need, including changing a lending status on a book (whether already checked out or not).

Rats. Making a note to myself so on the offchance it changes, and patrons can place their own holds on checked-out books, someone's bound to update this thread .. :)

>12 AustCivMil: I'm afraid I'd advise you not to get your hopes up on this feature for now. Currently, our system can only support one circulation state/status per item. Adding a hold queue would involve a major overhaul of the entire circulation feature, and that's not currently in our plans for the near future.

Ah. Fairynuff then. Thanks for the update!

I just want to add my vote for a holds queue feature. Thanks!

As a workaround for this, could you create a new feature called "wait list"? It wouldn't have to be a status, but patrons to click a button to add their name to the list (similar to the heart). Since I'm sure "wait list" notifications might be hard to implement, you could create a new page for wait list. It would list all of the wait listed items and their current status. You could click on the "available" items to see that item's wait list.

Maybe easier than trying to give resources multiple statuses?

Hi, any update on this one?

No update, I'm afraid. We do not have a holds queue, nor do we have immediate plans to add one. We'll be sure to announce any changes on that front, of course.

Thanks for your understanding.
