I used to have an account on LT a few months back (saraslibrary), but I am back. Yay! :) My previous threads are here, if you're curious. As for this month (and the rest of the year), I'm just going to start from this moment on, so the numbering will be completely off. Oh wells. :)

Julia directed by Matthew A. Brown
Tags: horror, new york, revenge, lesbians, dvd, R
Rating: 4/5
Synopsis: A neo-noir revenge thriller centering on Julia Shames, who after suffering a brutal trauma, falls prey to an unorthodox form of therapy to restore herself.
Note(s): Kind of in the vein of I Spit on Your Grave, which is a good/bad thing. I found it pathetic, almost demeaning, that both movies had the victims sexually seduce their rapists. (I highly recommend the "Spit" remakes. They leave that behavior out.) Still, I'm a sucker for horror revenge movies.

Hard by Lucia Jordan
Tags: fiction, erotica, christmas, series, complete, short story, ebook
Rating: 3/5
Pages: 32
Synopsis: Beth Reed hates office parties, but her boss Paul Vincent has asked her to go and keep an eye on things—particularly his son, Jake, who is visiting for the holidays. The owner of a custom motorcycle shop, Jake has a bad reputation for being a womanizer, and possibly a criminal, but Beth has always had a bit of a crush on him. Wishing for a guy like Jake is dangerous, however, so she’s always kept her distance. (...)
Note(s): I downloaded this one for free via Amazon, thinking it would be a little more bdsm-intensive. There's just some light restraints, calling one another dominant and submissive, so I wouldn't put this in the bdsm category, though the following books may be more naughty. I haven't read them. I think what really failed for me about this short story was the pairing up. It was so unlikely Jake would fall for such a good girl like Beth, but if good girl/bad boy types are your thing, then this might be worth a go. It's very quick and - better yet - free.

I Am Pusheen the Cat by Claire Belton
Tags: fiction, juvenile, graphic novel, humor, animals, cats, checked out from work
Rating: 4/5
Pages: 175
Synopsis: Pusheen is a pleasantly plump cat who has warmed hearts and tickled funny bones of millions worldwide with her signature GIF animated bops, bounces, and tail wiggles. Now, Pusheen is ready to make the leap from digital to print in her first comic collection! Learn what makes her purr and find out why millions of people have already fallen in love with this naughty, adorable kitty. Featuring some of the most popular stories from Pusheen’s Tumblr and Facebook pages (plus a healthy serving of never-before-seen material), I Am Pusheen the Cat is a treat for cat lovers and comics fans alike.
Note(s): I am pretty ignorant about Pusheen, but this book was cute, the title especially. Not as funny as I'd hoped, but it's age-appropriate for everybody.

I Love You Already! by Jory John
Tags: fiction, juvenile, picture book, humor, animals, bears, ducks, friendship, series, bear and duck, checked out from work
Rating: 5/5
Pages: 32
Synopsis: From the creators of Goodnight Already!, Jory John and Benji Davies, comes another standout hilarious picture book about Bear and Duck. Bear can't wait to spend a pleasant day by himself. His persistent next-door neighbor, Duck, wants to take a morning stroll . . . with Bear. He just wants Bear to like him already. . . .
Note(s): This is the third Jory John book I've read (previous two: All My Friends Are Dead and Goodnight Already!, both of which I loved). Doesn't disappoint. I think all of us can relate to bear, especially introverts or those of us who just need to recharge on our own. Still, I can relate to duck's neediness, too, to want bear to love him.

The Snurtch by Sean Ferrell
Tags: fiction, juvenile, picture book, checked out from work
Rating: 5/5
Pages: 40
Synopsis: Ruthie has a problem at school. It is not the students. It is not the classroom. It is not the reading or the writing or the math. It is something scribbly, scrunchy, grabby, burpy, and rude. It is the Snurtch. From the team behind I Don’t Like Koala, this clever picture book takes a discerning look at the challenges of behaving and controlling your emotions—especially when your own personal monster keeps getting in the way.
Note(s): Super cute and mischievous book! *note to self: put I Don't Like Koala on hold*

Random ha-ha:

One of the perks of having books around you all day: you come across some of the funniest covers -- or captions in this case. If you can't read it, here ya go:
At the twilight of time,
she could refuse no man her body, but
her will governed her world.

Oh, cheesy '70s fantasy covers, how I love thee. XD And this was the more conservatively-dressed heroines too.
