Are prudish readers likely to find Remembrance of Things Past offensive? One review I read referred to the "somewhat disturbing presence" of "grotesque sexual anecdotes", but other reviews seem to suggest that much of this action occurs "off stage", as it were, and is not described explicitly.

There are sexual descriptions, not graphic by modern standards but involving homosexual acts, sadism, and other practices that might be disturbing to prudes.

I can't recall any genuine descriptions; the closest is perhaps Charlus at the brothel, and the trysts in the Bois.

Please don't let that keep you away from Proust!!!
