Second-Hand Bookshop Recommendations in Dublin?

Could anybody recommend some cheap second-hand bookshops in Dublin, preferably somewhere relatively central? The only one I know is called the Secret Bookshop/Record Store (or something to that effect), tucked away in a small street (Wicklow?) running west off Grafton, discovered quite by accident a year or two ago. I suppose the most important criterion is price (on a miniscule student budget), and I'd generally be quite happy with an Irish emphasis if possible.

You can't go wrong with Chapters on Parnell Street (opposite the end of Moore Street). It's huge and very well stocked. The second-hand books are upstairs. Dandelion Books at 72 Aungier Street is worth a look, and there are also a couple of stalls in the George's Arcade. Oxfam have a dedicated bookshop near the bottom of Parliament Street, and books in their general shop on South Great George's Street.

The best deal for second hand books in Dublin is Trinity's booksale, but that only happens once a year, in April. However, the Students' Union run a bookshop all year round {edit: no they don't -- see below} on the first floor of House 6 (through the front entrance, turn left and it's the first door on your left, with a "6" above it).

The Trinity bookshop is only open during term time for undergraduate students however. You've just missed the end of term - they won't be open again until Freshers Week, which is the first week of October!

The best one, in my opinion, is Cathach Books, 10 Duke St. They have also numerous first editions of Irish interest books. Andreas.

You are right, "cheap" is not a fitting attribution to Cathach Books. Anyway, visits are fascinating and maybe even tempting, even if you do not plan to buy anything. Andreas.

Is not Greene's still open? For many years, I received their catalogue in the post, but I believe a few years ago that they replaced a hard-copy version with on-line sales. It's been a few years since I've been to the shop, but I recall it to have been a pretty good place. Has time marched past it?

Yep, Greene's followed Kenny's into the virtual-only world back in May. The barrows full of books outside on Clare Street are gone for good.

I'd heartily recommend the checking out the charity stores too! Though they trend towards the mainstream in their selection, they have decent stock most of the time!

Can anyone recommend an interesting book, preferably fiction for a bookgroup in Canada? I have to chose the books for my group far in advance and I like to read an Irish book for our March discussion. The group is all female (very few male sightings over the yrs) :(
The ladies are in their mid 50's to late 70's. Any thoughts??!

Could anybody recommend second hand bookshops in Belfast, preferably ones that sell first editions or signed books. Would also be interested in hearing about other bookshops throughout Ireland besides the usual ones in Dublin.

There is a bookshop in Whitefriars St Church. Not all religous and very well priced
