John Tyree joins the military so he can do something good with his life because he kept getting into trouble and on one of his leaves he met Savannah by saving her purse from the ocean and he never belived in love at first sight but when he saw her he felt something, and he offered to teach her how to surf so he is teaching her how to surf early in the morning and she's complaining that the water is to cold.
which is funny because alot of people complain when they go swimming that the water is cold untill they go all the way under.

John is taking Savannah out to eat to the shrimp shack and while they wait for their food they get into an easy conversation about life and John realizes that he wants to spend more time with her, he wants to spend everyday with her and since he met her he realizes that he's been lonely and hadn't admitted it.
