Love this series, historical and fictional characters meet in Hell.

Reread 2018 - This book is a compilation from other books with bridge stories. The book is about Julius Caesar and collects all the stories so far about him and his family and companions and then fills in all the details between stories. ( )

This sixth book in the Heroes in Hell series took me forever to slog through. It did not help that the first 150 pages or so are mostly pulled from previous short stories in the series that center on Julius Caesar and Brutus. Cherryh states at the beginning that she thinks it was better to do this than to summarize those events, but I disagree with that choice. After that, the action picks up as Caesarion and Brutus go on the lam, resulting in the culmination of the struggle between the Romans and the Eastern powers led by Mithridates.

This volume also includes a glossary, which I much appreciate as a resource rather than stopping to look people up on Wikipedia all the time. ( )
