I received this book from Library Thing in exchange for an honest review.

This was a nice, easy, entertaining read. The story is not overly complex, but quite enjoyable. There's some humour mixed in (the part where they're interviewing the mercenaries I read out loud to my boyfriend,) and it's a good adventure.

I think I would have preferred a bit meatier story - more world building, more back story, just more everything. I'm excited for the sequels! ( )

It all started with a sample Demon Princess by Kassandra Lynn I opened an email that led me here there then to a sample of this book. Demon Princess, after reading the sample I had to buy the book of course, you can't start a book and not find out what happens. Now I'm finished and had to go read a sample of part two, Demon King....of course I'll have to buy it and then the third as well now. My tbr shelf of books I have is miles long. I keep promising to read some before I buy new books ... why can't I do that??

This book was a great YA fantasy read. Had me hooked from the first chapters sample. I loved it!!! ( )

Cute story!

This is a fast read, meant for teens. Not a lot of deep emotion, but an intriguing look at a demon princess, who reminds me of Maleficent. She not an ugly or gross demon, but looks human, which creates her problem; she is bound to a Mage as a summon beast and the mages have no idea what she is. This novel intrigued me because it destroyed my concept of a vile, deformed, monstrous creature. Adri is quite weak in strength, but powerful in magic, not a typical demon who processes people. A few of her people have horns, and Adri has wings that can magically emerge.

This book doesn't end on a satisfactory conclusion. I'd recommend reading book two.

A clean read for all ages. ( )

What a great story. I feel the writing was not as developed as it could have been and there were far too many grammatical errors for me to rate the book any higher, but the story was fabulous. The fact that the book was so short didn't help develop the characters and plot, either. But it was exciting and intriguing. I liked the characters and I wanted to get to know them better. I wish the book ha gone through a more extensive editing process so I could have fully enjoyed it, but it was still a fun read! ( )

I may have accidentally read the entire book in one sitting without even stopping for water because I needed to see what happened. And I am remarkably okay with that, except now I am ready for the next one and it is going to seem like a ridiculously long wait.

I won't say that this book touched me deeply, but I was definitely drawn in quickly and it was hard to stop reading. It was fun, which is sometimes more than I can say about books, even books I genuinely like, and there will always be a place for fun books in my reading.

Adriana, our titular "demon princess", is actually more of a character than simply that, which is refreshing. It is an unfortunate thing I have noticed in YA fiction where once a character is given a "thing" that (s)he is, the author feels like they are done and no longer have to bother fleshing the character out. This is not true here, and it made it much easier to get inside Adriana's head and stay there happily.

She does not do knee-jerk reactions to things, she's capable of being patient and thoughtful and actually clever, and she's willing to re-evaluate things that she's heard all her life without falling into either the trap of immediately tossing everything (herself and her opinions included) aside OR refusing to look at things that contradict her previous beliefs. Thank you, Kassandra Lynn, for a YA main character that doesn't act like a complete idiot.

Because of all of this, I am significantly more invested in the romance that eventually starts to develop, and I'm much more willing to go along for that particular ride. Bonus points for it being a generally non-creepy romance, of course--I've seen a few too many books where the romance is treated as the pinnacle of the characters lives and is also a deeply unhealthy relationship besides. This does not do that.

I feel like I've spent a lot talking about what this book is not, which is good in that all the things I've mentioned are things I don't want my books to be, but probably not the most helpful in explaining what the book actually is.

It is a good read, certainly, and filled with characters that are different. A few of them fall into the "overly villainous villain" category, but it's the first book in a series and is in Adriana's viewpoint, so that gets some slack. The rest of the crop are interesting, and if we don't get to hear as much about them as would be helpful in fleshing them out, they also seem to be characters that actually have something there to flesh out, so that is a hopeful sign for future books in the series.

I really liked the whole "Wise Man, Savior, Warrior" part of the world. It felt a little like an RPG, but in a good way (is there a bad way it can feel like that, though? Just me?). I'm interested to see where that is going, and what may come of it. I'm thinking prophecies in the next book, maybe? I do love me some prophecies.

I'll be picking up the next book and probably swallowing it whole, as I did with this one.

This book was provided to me for free via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a short and easy read. It's a young adult fantasy/paranormal book. I appreciated the use of an unexpected protagonist in the girl that would be Demon King but is currently a damsel in distress. Though at first I found her an unlikable character she developed into someone I was ultimately rooting for. It has your usual star-crossed lovers story as well as enough suspense to keep me interested. I look forward to see what happens next in the sequel.

I received a copy of this book from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.
From the summary I was expecting a very different novel. It was less of Adriana hiding her true identity and more of her being controlled against her will and forgetting to escape when a pretty boy is nice to here. An interesting premise was completely ruined by the unfortunate 'insta-love' trope. I felt like the main character - Adriana - had her entire agency taken away and it was frustrating. I did finish the book but I won't be continuing the series. ( )

I received this novel in a giveaway on LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review.

*There will be spoilers in this review*

If I'm being perfectly honest, the book wasn't bad. But it definitely wasn't my favorite.

I enjoyed the plot, even though it was very rushed. I didn't like how all of a sudden a new scene started without any closure on a previous scene. Just, bam, new day out of the blue. Also, the romance was just ~there~. I didn't see any development in their relationship. Keldrin was a stranger, and the next moment she has this huge crush on him.

The writing felt juvenile, like it was written for someone much younger than me. The obvious was always being pointed out. Ex. something would happen and I could tell what was going on, and then it would be explained again in very plain terms.

Additionally, I felt there was little to no descriptive text, and I couldn't visualize where I was at all in the story. Adriana is a weak character, and I don't think a girl who is supposed to be the Demon King would just go about being a slave for an entire school year without saying anything. She did say she wasn't brought up to be the Demon King, but it seemed her father was pretty cruel because of what he did to Keldrin's mother. I don't know, maybe it makes sense to others, but she is unrealistic.

I do think I will be continuing with this series, but not at this very moment because there are other books I really would like to read right now. I'd like to see if Adriana and Keldrin can develop a convincing romance and what will happen once Adriana returns to the Demon Kingdom. ( )

Demon Princess: Demon Kingdom Fairy Tales Book One by Kassandra Lynn

Demon Princess Adriana takes over the Throne becoming the Demon King, when her Brother goes missing and her Father is gone. Then summoned by Aldric (a Mage in training) to go to the human kingdom. Adriana is trapped in the human world, trying to hide her real identity and trying to escape her mortal enemies.

Adriana is very likable, she has a lot of responsibilities and finds herself in a bad situation. Aldric is likable as well. They story is fast paced, (with) well developed characters , an original (detailed) plot. There is drama, action , danger and mystical creatures throughout. I highly recommend Demon Princess to those who love a magical fantasy. ( )

I was able to get through DEMON PRINCESS but I there were problems. There wasn't much to the world building, everything was a bit vague. A few issues that came up in DEMON PRINCESS weren't resolved or even brought up again after they were mentioned. I also felt that the characters were lacking development.

After all was said and done I was left with way too many questions. I wasn't interested enough to read more.

This book, though an interesting idea, disappointed me by the end. Not trying to nitpick the author's writing style, but the first person narration just doesn't do it for me. Also, I have so many unanswered questions. *Spoilers, stop reading now if you don't want to know* Why does Adriana lose her voice exactly? Also, the differences between mages and Savior Bloods, Warriors, and whatever else is in this story is never clearly delineated. Also, the characters don't seem entirely fleshed out. I get that this story is told in Adriana's point of view but good lord. Oh, and Aldric. Where do I even begin? He's the guy who summoned Adriana, but hates that he summoned someone seemingly human (to him). His attitude doesn't really change throughout the story, but aside from his pining from the similar in attitude Princess Salvene. Keldrin, the love interest seems to be the stereotypical princely type, who come to our dear princess's rescue time and time again. However, unless this guy was immediately enraptured by this girl's beauty and lack of speech upon meeting her, I doubt that buying her dresses and bending to her every whim would be the first reaction...but I digress. This has the potential to be a great story, if the characters were a little more fleshed out and developed, if the world that the author created were also a little more developed...essentially, this whole thing just needs to be developed a little bit more. As I said in the beginning, this is an interesting idea to be sure, just needs a bit of work. I'm grateful to have received the copy in order for an honest review, and look forward to seeing what her writing style turns into as she grows as an author. ( )

This book drew me in from the start - I couldn't stop thinking about it and couldn't wait to read more! Adriana's character is strong, yet caring. She struggles with the person she is fated to be - the current Demon King - and just wanting to be a normal girl with choices about her life. The other characters are complex as well and I know I'm reading a good book when I always have a question that needs an answer: "What about her past doesn't she know?" "How are they going to resolve this issue?"

While in many ways this is your typical teen paranormal fantasy novel it definitely has its charms. I love the idea of a female demon king that is just as vulnerable as any old human. The characters all had their own unique charms as well which made them seem more real to me as a reader. The doomed love aspect in it also added some flare to the story and really made me want to read more of it. I also love the cliffhanger end I definitely had a jaw-dropping moment when I read it.
I will say one thing about this book and it is more a personal preference but there were some aspects that were mentioned that kind of got forgotten and never said again but with this being the first in the series I am hopeful they will come to the forefront later. ( )

I wasn't sure that I would get past the title, Demon Princess, but I'm glad I continued.
I was hooked by Demon Princess, Kassandra Lynn's fantastic first book in the Demon Kingdom Fairy Tales. We enter a masterfully crafted world where we meet Mages, Summon Beasts and Demons. Princess Adriana Delman, 18 is about to be crowned Demon king in place of her father, who along with her brother has gone missing, when the unthinkable happens. She's summoned by a mage, Aldrich, a Savior Blood,to become his summon beast. This is unheard of as Adri's a Demon and Demons can't become Summon Beasts, who must obey everything a master tells them. Aldrich in this book was the kind of character you can't help but hate at the way he treats Adri. Adriana hides' her real identity, while trying to find a way to break this bond, leading to a unusual partnership between Adri and Keldrin the Savior Blood, Razen the Wiseman, and Xander the Warrior in an unforgettable adventure. I fell in love with Adriana and I loved the star-crossed love story between Adri and Keldrin, Aldrich's cousin. The world building that goes on is terrific. I'll eagerly await the next book, Demon King, which continues the series.

A rather quick read, partially due to length but also because it's hard to put down once you start. Princess Adriana starts as your typical slightly-spoiled princess, but shows good character growth both through reflection and through interaction with other characters. Will definitely read book two.

Well executed YA fiction. The Demon Princess is exactly like you would expect a pampered princess to be. The struggle to become free and the romance that develops is a great start to a budding series. ( )

I really enjoyed this book. There's some good characters with some interesting interpersonal relationships, a good storyline and interesting plot. The only thing that could have been done slightly better was the opening page or 2, I found it a little bland compared to the rest of the book but after that it improved immeasurably. I'd definitely like to read the rest of the books in this series to see how things all turn out.

It was easy to follow, the characters relatable and just enough mystery to keep me interested. I would have liked a bit more elaboration on the settings the characters found themselves in and the imagery of the world and scenes but that's just me, I like to know that what I'm seeing while I read is exactly what the author wants me to see, it helps me to really immerse myself in their world.

I liked how Princess Adriana used people's physical features to name strangers, it was an effective way to portray part of her personality. All around a well written and easy to follow story that I enjoyed reading ( )

Oh, how do I start?? Basically a demon princess turned slave by a mage, accidentally. Trying to write this without spoilers is a bit hard. I will say, I was stuck with my eyes on this book until the very end. And at the end, oh how I wanted to cry. I cant wait to read the next one and hope oh how i hope its a smile and a happy ending.
