because i am low on time my library reflects all reading done since i joined in october '06. many of the books have been assigned for classes, though i occasionally am able to sneak in a book or two for pleasure.

a long time ago i made a conscious decision to forego being a reader of fine literature in favor of being well read in less culturally capitalist areas like children/young adult literature, fairy tales, and comic book/graphic novels.

at this juncture i am a undergraduate student, and am almost finished with my BA in English. i dig socio-cultural implications. i thrive on psychoanalytical readings (especially related to Jung's theories on archetypes). i've never read Lacan, and i'm ok with that. i strongly believe in (and am concerned about) the fact that children/YA literature plays a major role in the socialization process. my goal is to graduate without having been forced to read "Ulysses" by James Joyce. someday i might be a children's librarian.

when not reading for school i mainly read for escapist purposes.

if i could have a hypothetical dinner party involving 5 authors, i would invite Sigmund Freud, Sylvia Plath, Angela Carter, Neil Gaiman, and Tom Robbins. (i think it would be a pretty hoppin' party.)
