- The Al Qantara's library collection is made up of both in-world and web-based material. The Library provides links to online publications in the public domain as well as links to databases and other web sites with information on Al-Andalus. Second Life publications developed and published by library volunteers and community members are also available.
Topics covered by the library mirror active areas of scholarship in the historic Al Andalaus: philosophy, religion, science (also including agriculture, manufacture and medicine), civil law, art, architecture, literature, poetry, music, history and geography.
Additionally, Latin and Greek classics are included in the Library's collection, as Cordoba and later Toledo were important centers for the translations and transmission of these classics. - Informazione su di me
- Al-Qantara Library is a Second Life library, located in the Al Andalus Alhambra sim.
The historic Al-Andalus, the Arabic name for parts of the Iberian Peninsula and Septimania (711-1492), was a major center for learning and an important economic center in both the Mediterranean basin and the Islamic world. Scholars from all over the world came to study in its famous libraries.
There were three main religious groups - Christians, Muslims and Jews -living together in relative harmony, under Muslim rule.
The Al Qantara, or Bridge, library is named to express the bridges that understanding and knowledge offer to different cultures, and our wish to continue to build them. - Luogo
