Article text: "NEW-YORK, December 30. About 1 o'Clock last Thursday Morning, the House of the Hon. George D. Ludlow, Esq; third Judge of the Supreme Court of this Province, at Hempstead Plains, took Fire and was burnt to the Ground, with almost every Thing therein contained, but providentially no Lives were lost.
The Loss Mr. Ludlow sustains by this Accident cannot be less than £3000; for besides the Loss of his Furniture, Plate, &c. a Library worth £1200, is entirely consumed."
