Summary: This story is about a young boy named Chucho and his family. They were all born in Columbia, but now live in the United States. Chucho is too young to remember anything about Columbia. His whole family is excited to be going to a fiesta like the ones they have in their home country. There are some words that are used in Spanish and there is a glossary in the back for the Spanish words. The story tells about fiestas and what happens at them. It also touches on some Columbian foods.

Personal Reaction: I liked this story because it is a short story that young children can enjoy. I liked that Chucho was the hero in the end.

Classroom Extension:
1. I would read this story while learning about culture in Latin America. This would be a fun story to read right before having our own fiesta.
2. After reading this story to an upper grade class, I would have them research fiestas or celebrations of different cultures to contrast and compare.… (altro)

This book is about a Hispanic family. They are getting ready to attend a Saint's day festival. There is a little boy who does not remeber his native country so he is learning about his culture within the story. The book uses Spanish words throughout. There is a glossary at the back of the book to define the Spanish words.

I like this book because it described the Saint's Day Festival and activities during the festival. It uses Spanish words in the context that the reader can understand what is being read.

This book would be useful in a classroom exercise about the Hispanic culture. I would also use this book to discuss different holidays celebrated in different cultures.… (altro)
