John Yarker (1833–1913)

I made a couple of tiny transcription errors in my editorial work on this extract from the works of 19th-century esoteric Freemason John Yarker, but these are easily corrected by an attentive reader from context. In light of more recent study, I'm still satisfied with the prefatory observations and end note references that I composed nearly twenty years ago.

Yarker's treatment is wide-ranging, and covers grail mythology, a three-phase development of Templar insignia following the historical conclusions of the Hungarian writer Malczovich, and various Templar revivals, Masonic and otherwise.

I left the source file for this chapbook with Scarlet Woman Lodge in Austin, and, based on a new cover design visible in LibraryThing, they appear to have reprinted it at least once since my administration there as the local master.… (altro)
