Jennifer Woodhull

This book is full of short stories by fantastic authors some I knew before and some are new to me and I have fallen in love with. There are a lot of short stories and some I have not got to yet, but I definitely plan to, so here are my reviews on the stories I have read so far:
Her Mafioso’s Honor by Patricia Eddy:
In this story we are instantly introduced to Evelyn who has been captured by some mafia guys. She is treated horribly but she is strong and can hold her own. Damian is the nephew to the current mafia boss who thinks it is horrible the way his uncle has ran the family into the ground so he is out to right the wrongs and he starts by saving Evelyn from an even worse fate. At first Evelyn is very skeptical a guy like Damian wants to help her and cares for her well being but their attraction is undeniable. The story is a short one, but I loved it so much and enjoyed the characters. A fast paced intense read with an incredible alpha and tough as nails heroine.

Real by Magan Vernon:
In this cute read we get to see the banter between two individuals who entertained me and made me laugh. Wren is starting a paper for her English class and starts to email her professor so she can get a few things approved but the TA answers to response. This TA comes off as abrupt, kind of mean, but she does not know it is not her professor but instead his TA, Wolf the school bad boy. Wolf is smart and knows what he likes, and he knows his stuff when it comes to the class he works for. Their back and forth arguing is so good that you know they love to get a rise out of each other but know it may be kind of forbidden. I loved Wolf and the way he was straight forward with Wren. I also how Wren could give back as good as he could and that they were so attracted to each other just by arguing.

The Cabin Between Us by Dani Rene:
This story was cute, and it followed Calandra who left her hometown to try and make it in Hollywood, but we find out when she left town she left behind her heart. She is returning because her mother has decided to sell their cabin but she has so many memories there it’s hard for her to see it go, but when she gets home Kolton her heart and soul at one point is there. Kolton let the love of his life go but now he has a plan to make up for lost time.

Overall Opinion:
Three weeks shy of her wedding, Brie is left heartbroken after her fiance ends the engagement and leaves her for a ‘tan goddess’ he had met one month prior. After six months of picking up the broken pieces and her crushed self-esteem, she ultimately decides to try the whole friends with benefits with Max, the local bartender whom she always had a flirty past with.

Their timing was never right so when Max discovers that they are both finally single at the same time, he leaps in heart first ready to win her over even despite her swearing off all relationships and not looking for anything more than a casual fling. Agreeing to her rules of not asking for more, it starts as an arrangement but when Max realized his feelings for her are lot more than he anticipated, he’s doing everything in his power to win her over. But would Brie see this more than an arrangement? Will she finally allow her heart to open up to him? Only time will tell.

Overall, it was a enjoyable read and the lead characters were phenomenal. Nana and Simon, the secondary characters, added additional humor to the story (fingers cross Simon will have his own series too). With the leads strong connection and great chemistry, you can’t help but root for their happily ever after. It was a quick fun read and the twist at the end was unexpected! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking a book filled with great banter, hot scenes, and seconds chances.

I've looked forward to reading this book since the moment I read the blurb even more so when I received the cover reveal with the adorable nerd hottie. I did a happy dance when Inkslinger PR notified me that I would receive an ARC. I don't do that with many books. Each teaser and snippet just built up my inner bookworm. The entire time, hoping the book lives up to all the hype. Thankfully, it did--actually made my heart sing. I loved it so much that I read it in one sitting and was still thinking about the characters days later.

I love love love the trope of nerdy brainic and hot cheerleader was explored. What nerdy guy doesn't dream about that? What Woodhull does differently is that the cheerleader has been lusting after the adorable nerd. I use the term nerd with the utmost love and respect--after all the nerds rule the world. This premise/trope is the basis for Sinclair and Dexter's love story like all relationships theirs is riddled with challenges. The largest of which being that Dexter thinks Sinclair deserves a certain type of man. A pretty boy athletic Alpha male. Clair believes a similar logic. Of course, the duo begin dating other people and even develop feeling for said people but realize these feelings are merely superficial and cause all kinds of issues among all four people including causing a rift between Clair and Dex something that has never happened with them since their friendship began.

I loved this book so much that I read it in one sitting. Max is adorable!! The perfect book boyfriend in every way. Brie...well she's sweet and sassy at all the right moments with a hint of commitment phobia and utter distrust to round things out!



Max has been crushing on Brie for years; their timing has always been off. First, she was dating his friend--ok sorda of a friend. He was...ok anyway, one of them have always been in a relationship while the other was single. Brie is no longer engaged and neither is he. We will not discuss his trainwreck of an ex. But he would never cheat like Brie's ex did. He thought about it--with Brie. Never, ever acted upon it. He is going to do everything possible to keep the girl he has been drooling, worshiping, and dreaming about for the last five years. None of that will matter if he can't get her to see how much he cares for her. He will even enter into a friends with benefits agreement to get her and hopefully try to convince her how much he loves her.

What guy dates while engaged to someone else? Oh yeah, my douchebag ex who told me weeks! Yes, weeks before our wedding. Who has to cancel of this wedded bliss--yelp you guessed. Is it bad that the only thing I truly miss is sex? How hard is it just to punch the O card? I tried the app...epic fail. If it wasn't for Max who knows what would've happened? Max...he's always been there. Sometimes to fill up my drinks at our favorite watering hole, other times a New Year's Eve dance that I shouldn't've accepted--you know, because I was dating his friend. Water under the bridge. Anyway. I just need a release. Surprise, surprise, Max offered to help. A standing Sunday date to punch that big O in. Now, to keep my heart tightly protected so Max doesn't break me like the douchebag did.… (altro)
