I received this book free for an honest review.

I could not get into this book and finally gave up on it after 3 months and only 16% in. I ALWAYS finish books, even when their tedious, especially when i've received them free for a review but i just couldn't. The obvious political agenda of the author was jarring and kept me from finding the world he created realistic but the worst part was the protagonist. Her voice was juvenile, naive, and grating. I hated her and i hated this book.

(altro)

Sometimes you come across a book (or get sent as a free review copy) something that sounds interesting, but within the first few pages you realise the writing is just so hideously clunky that it's not worth progressing with any more. I managed 10% of the book, 30 pages. Dire. Cliche'd stale, clunky, cardboard characters telling rather than showing everything. I gritted my teeth and read a bit more no. no improvement. Out it goes. There is a possibility it was supposed to be some kind of farcical humour/ satire but if so it fell leaden to the floor.

The basic set-up world building seemed like it might be very interesting, in a corporate monopoly world living the american dream everywhere, the US president goes missing and so the world's best robotics engineer (a heroine the only redeeming feature) has to create a replacement. But her boss if the evil creepy Ivan whom she works with all day - he live sin a black creep mansion. by which time I'd already given up. She meets a stunning friend of a friend and I'm sure will eventually turn out to be a robot, and live with him forever.

Dire. Do not read.
