Knight of Legends by Leslie W. was a quick and intriguing read set in a Sci Fi world where the only guard that society has against the onslaught of ghosts every night is the specially trained response teams of ATROS. Overall, I enjoyed the premise of the book, but as someone who doesn't read much Sci Fi, I was often left wanting more explanation of the paranormal aspects and the background to how the ghosts started. While the overall explanation is provided, I would have love d some more scenes describing societies initial interactions with the ghosts and how they learned to deal with them - eventually leading to the development of Atros. The additional races within the society besides humans also intrigued me, but I often struggled to differentiate them. I would have liked more scenes from Keixs time before her life turned on its head. I enjoyed the quick start that the book has, it absolutely sucks you in! But some back fill of information on how life was before would have been nice. Overall, Night of Legends was a good read, and the potential for next books in the series is outstanding! I just wish there was more information to ground you in the world and help you better relate to Keix's character.… (altro)

This YA fantasy is a fresh tale. Leslie W. dumps the reader into the middle of an escape of the main character, Kiex. And does a great job of letting the reader experience all the confusion and struggle of Kiex as she learns that she has been missing for 2 years, or so her friends thought. That is until one of them discovers that Kiex is actually a prisoner of the very force that she worked for.
The reader is taken through Kiex's struggle to understand as quickly as possible what has happened to her, her friends and fellow soldiers, and Atros and her world. She has to reassess her whole previous life.
There are plenty of twists and turns and revelations as everything that Kiex had thought was real is crushed by the reality that she never saw coming.

I received a copy of this book to read and review.

Big thanks to Leslie W for the eARC in exchange for a review.
The story follows Keix, who had been trained by a military style group against ghosts. She is woken up in a secret lab of sorts and told that she's been gone for 2 years, subjected to torture and experiments, done by the same group who she works for. She can hardly believe that they would do this. She needs to figure out who to trust, who's team she should be on and what she can do to protect her friends from a similar fate.

I'm going to give this one 3.5 rounded down. I enjoyed the story and the action was decently fast paced and exciting but it was hard to follow at times. I think reading a prequel or an origin story before starting this would make it a bit easier to follow.
The dynamic of the relationships were a bit confusing as well. There seemed to be a lot of bitterness between Z and Keix and I don't really feel that that is ever really addressed. There was a lot of side switching which made things hard to follow and in general, just a lot of characters who seemed to have minor roles, then all of a sudden are important.
