This was a quick and lighthearted read about Etta, who returns to her hometown and Alexander, her late fathers best friend and her new boss.

Starting with what I liked I have to say both characters and their honest conversations. I really started to like Alexander when he was very forthcoming with his feelings for Etta and there were little (except for one) misunderstandings and no drama between the two of them, so that was refreshing.

I also enjoyed the little town Pebble Point which seemed like a place I would like to live or at least visit.

Like the town Alexander was very sweet and didn't rush Etta at all. On the contrary, he suggested they take things slowly ad his love and respect for Etta seemed genuine.

After their first kiss it got a bit too cheesy for me with all the poems, love notes and sirupy sweet words of affection. But that's just me. I'm not into that kind of stuff and I'm sure other readers will eat that up, so it's not affecting my rating.

However, I had a problem with the timeline. Etta mentions a few times her special bond with Alexander but we don't really know when that happened.
20 years ago shortly before she left town?
Or 5 years ago when she obviously met with Alexander? (She talks about meeting him, but not specific enough to really know where, why and what was going on.)

Etta says that age doesn't matter but I don't completely agree with that. Because if Alexander felt this bond and more importantly the physical attraction when Etta was still in High School and he was in his mid thirties, that would be a problem for me and I would say age totally matters and looking like that at your best friends under age daughter is not okay.

So I was anxious the whole book, desperately wanting to know what happened in the past and how Alexanders feelings developped. (See, I was invested in the story, that's a good thing!)
But sadly these questions left unanswered and I am left a bit confused hoping he only started having romantic feelings for Etta 5 years ago.

So while I enjoyed the book but had a lot of questions reading I give the book 3,5 Stars, rounded up to 4.

* I received an advanced copy of the book and this is my voluntary review and honest opinion.
