This book I would have to be careful about because it definitely made me cry pretty hard just reading it by myself- but everything kinda does. I loved this book though. It had such a good lesson about disabilities and acceptance. It is a really good thing to have books like these in the classroom. I don't think it is something I would teach a whole lesson over but I definitely would want to incorporate it into my class somehow where we can talk about being accepting and how other people feel when they are different. I think I would pair this with wonder- I would read like a chapter of wonder everyday and then pair it with a book like this everyday.… (altro)

I absolutely love this book. I found this book while creating a lesson on how to apply/use bibliotherapy in an early elementary classroom. I think this book was perfect because it presents the concept of being different, but celebrating those differences instead of letting them define you negatively. All children experience difference whether it be physical, emotional, mental, or abilities or disabilities. This is a hard topic to "teach" children to understand... when words fail, there are books. A book like A Different Little Doggy is perfect to teach this concept because young learners can see that just like the doggy their differences can be great too. In addition, the use of animals instead of people makes it applicable to all students.… (altro)
