Why this book:

Favorite Character:
Ikku, the put upon son with the carefree disposition.
The Feel:
It’s like being transported into a 80’s anime.
Favorite Scene:
The pixie assault force rising from the Black Battalion.
The motto power activation routine...so having a “Let’s Go Voltron Force” flashback there.
Pacing:
Great pacing. Short punchy chapters. Good, good.
Plot Holes/Out of Character:
The whole “dropping to her knees in the snows of Antarctica, crying, and bowing her head when Sato Kiko meets Dr. Nagura Scott, her mentor and new boss. ...Meh.
Hmm Moments:
The image of the giant robot head buried in the ice and snows of Antarctica with a fence and guards around it. Great image.
The having two pilots doing the actions side-by-side made me think of Pacific Rim, briefly, and wonder when Rim was written. Of course, then I thought about other multiple pilot, giant robots and put the thought that one was copying the other aside: Pacific Rim, Power Rangers, G-Force, Voltron, both versions. And I’m sure there are others that are slipping my mind right now.
Casting call:
The cadence of Dr. Nagura Scott’s speech is very William Shatner-like.
