Nothing Jewish is mentioned per se, but the look and feel is that of a Jewish family from Eastern Europe coming to America. There is a spirit of hopefulness and love. - Marla S.
Story about boy whose father wanted him to be a rice farmer, except he was really good at making lanterns. In the end the emperor hires him to make lanterns for him. Enjoyed the illustrations.(woodblock)
