Joseph Veebe

Joseph Veebe’s book is a quick read, but very informative without overwhelming the reader. I enjoyed his brief history of cinnamon, something I don’t see in most cookbooks or discussions of herbs. I also look forward to trying the recipes and home remedies he has provided, and seeing if increasing the use of cinnamon in my diet helps me to experience improvements in my health, or at the very least helps me to decrease my sugar intake.

Okay, so this is the second book in this series I got to review. I appreciated that there was more ... writing ... involved with this book. More effort or more substance is probably the better word. And about effort - this author mentions his other books repeatedly in this book. It's fine to mention, but it seems tacky for a topic to be mentioned here, and the only said... "well read my other book." I can forgive that, what is unforgivable to is the decision to format the squares of details in the back portions of the book so close together so that squares are bleeding over into others, and the color combinations are sometimes unreadable. Finally, anytime there are pubmed results I get happy - I am a medical librarian after all. Some context or search terms or a PRISMA diagram would be helpful, but in the end... it all comes down to the heavy claim that this spice can do everything... and as Sawbones often tells us, cure-alls often cure nothing. I may try a few of these, but pepper may just stay in my spicebox.… (altro)
