Charles Ullmann

This cunning and engaging chapbook of micro-fiction is from Future Tense books, Kevin Sampsell's ninja-like west coast independent press. Ullman occupies a small branch of the experimental / dadaist / surrealist tree of literature, but what makes his work better than the usual random jumble is its sneaky intelligence and its sense of poignant loneliness -- an avant-garde with a soft spot. It's often quite funny, as well. Worth searching out.
