“Sex positive” and "sex negative” is a false dichotomy. I urge the reader to consider each of Tyler’s arguments on their own merits rather than endorsing, or dismissing, a whole text based on any prejudices. The weak arguments seem very apparent to me, but there is a lot of thought provoking stuff in here too. The director Mason deserves her own chapter, but she only gets one mention. Published in 2011, it already felt out of date as Tyler does not deal with collapse of the DVD market and role of prostitution filling income gap for many performers. Most telling for me though is the very end, when confronted with what a new sexuality would be, she doesn’t have an answer.
