Skary Childrin and the Carousel of Sorrow di Katy Towell
Children's fiction; creepy/weird humor. Charming story revolving around 3 'weird' (a little goth, but mostly just independent-thinking) girls at an all-girls school, and their new acquaintance Steffen (homeschooled because he's too poor to go to the boys' school across the street). The pencil/graphite illustrations look a little like the doodles from a highschooler's notebook, but overall children (particularly girls) should enjoy the short humorous chapters and suspense. The alternatively-spelled title comes from Beatrice's poor spelling (in her defense, she's only 7 years old). Not an outstanding work, but satisfactory.… (altro)
I was excited to try this book, but it ended up being very disappointing for me. I just did not like the story at all, and it just hold together for me. I found the whole explanation of who these people were pointless and just didn't really like the characters.
It wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't a good one, either.
I just couldn't make myself read this for some reason. Now that I finally finished, I still can't pinpoint if it was the story or the writing that I wasn't into. Oh, well.

Cute premise, could have done with a bit of editing, but the pictures are gorgeous!
