An unusual take on the Noah story, focused on beloved trees dutifully cut down to build the ark. The book leaves the rest of the ark story a mystery, which keeps it from touching on scary aspects of the flood and its impact. - Marla S.

This book was awesome for a lesson plan for a younger crowd, maybe 2nd graders. It has a model in the back to help make a birdhouse of your own at the end! I enjoyed this book about Bear building a birdhouse.

This story is about Jesus telling stories called parables. One of the parable examples Jesus tells is about some seeds that fall outside soft furrows. Birds then swoop and eat those seeds leaving little crumbs behind. Some crumbs fall on the rocky ground, and others fall where they can not grow. The point behind this parable is " God nurtures us the same way the good earth nurtures the little seeds." These parables explain how God will be there to take care of you no matter what!

Joseph is a fisherman. Joesph and his wife get into their boat every morning and start their day off by sailing down the sea. They have to cast their big nets to catch as many fish as they can so they can sell a big produce to the market. Nellie hangs up the fish nets once they are done for the day so they can dry for the next time they go out on the boat. When the day is over, they make sure everything is clean and they go home to pay with their baby. No matter what your career maybe in life, family should always come first. Having a job to support your family is by far the best thing that you can do. I think this book would be appropriate for 1st-3rd graders because these students might know what they want to do in the future and they are always with their families.

God created the Earth and everything in it including the sun, moon, and stars outside of it. He also created people to love each other. This is a great book for children to understand God and their religion.

Goose finds a bird nest with eggs in it on the ground. Bear decides to build a house for the birds to live in and nest in. Goose and Bear build the house together and watch the birds make their home with a smile. They hoped to build a house (bird house) of their own next. Bear already has a plan.

This book is about a little brown cow that has no spots on her back and has two horns on her forehead. She lives in a backyard that is big and has plenty of room for her. This cow provides milk, cheese, and butter for her owner and smiles every time she does it. She loves to look at the sky as well because she likes to watch the clouds move. She is always hungry and eats whenever she can, she doesn't like to go without her grass. This was a very cute book because you can tell that the owner and the cow have such a strong relationship with one another. It doesn't matter on what kind of pet you have, just as long as you take care of them and show them love and affection.

This book is about a young gardener who plans, digs, tiles, rakes, sows, labels his products, waters the garden, weeds the dead plants, watches them grow over the period, and then finally harvests the finished product to put for sale in the market. This young Gardner takes care of all his produces and is very excited when he sees them growing and when they are almost ready to be picked. When the leaves turn a certain yellow color, this is when the gardener puts away all of his tools and his work is done until the ground is dry again. I think this book shows how you can have a passion about something and how you enjoy your time while doing something you love.

This story captures the idea of taking pride in one's work. It uses simple illustrations that produces a powerful outcome that renders the reader in a state of awe. The story is told from goose's point of view. I enjoyed how the story developed into a project that the two characters worked on. The sequence of events brings the reader into the idea of constructing one's own project. At the end of the story, bear gives goose or some would argue the reader, a layout of how to build one's own bird house. A simple narration brings about a satisfying read to add to any collection.

I enjoyed this colorful children's book about Matisse! The illustrations were great, of course, and I enjoyed learning a bit about Matisse's use of color.

Monet is one of my favorite artists so I really enjoyed reading this cute short story. The author recreats some of Monet's famous paintings and talks of how he would paint outside regardless of the weather. I would read this and maybe have the students try to recreate a Monet painting. I think that would be a fun lesson about art.

Rabbit Seeds is a sweet story that follows the actions of a rabbit who plants seeds in the spring and watches them grow until they are ripe to harvest. After he has picked his vegetables, and the season changes into winter, the rabbit covers his garden with a blanket of leaves to protect his seeds until the spring when he can tend to his garden again.
This book could be used to open the topic of gardening and where vegetables come from as well as what the different seasons bring. It could also be used to discuss the possibility of planting a class garden.

This book is about all the creations that God created. It tells about, the moon, stars, sun, people, and different animals. Great for young children learning about the earth.

A rabbit plants seeds and tends to his crops. He patiently waits for his crops to surface. Once they are ripe he sells his fruits and vegetables. Winter arrives shortly after. The rabbit farmer puts all his farming tools away. The book illustrations look like pencil drawings (contour drawings).

This book tells of how God made the earth and the sky. Then it tells of how he put people and animals on the earth and how he put stars in the sky.

This story is about a young girl who talks about a brown cow that lives outside her house. She talks about how it eats, sleeps, how its used for milk and its everyday life. Beginning readers might find it more interesting.

(easy, picture) Goose finds a nest with bird eggs on his way to visit Bear. When he shows Bear the nest with eggs, he decides to build a bird house while his trusting friend Goose looks on. They spend a lovely day together and Bear sends Goose home with a blueprint to build his own house. The story is a simple one with simple drawings to match. Still, the simplicity has it's appeal and I think children would like this book. Maybe a fun activity would be to build mini bird houses out of small milk cartons or do the famous roll the pine cone in peanut butter and seeds. Hang the pine cones from a tree.

the pictures were nice - but very small - and the story must have lost something in translation... it was not enough to engage my small one...½
